Imphal, Sept 14 MNS/NNN: It is raining of bombs in Manipur.
The government of India’s elite intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) is not spared.
Since September 5, rarely a day has been passed off without an incident of either blast or discovery of a planted explosive.
On Friday, a BSF head constable was wounded in a bomb explosion that occured at Heirok Part-II, Tomal Makhong in Thoubal district around 4:30 pm Friday, police sources said here.
Peoples Liberation Army (PLA), an armed wing of Peoples Revolutionary Front (RPF) has claimed responsible for the blast.
The BSF head constable injured in the blast suspected to have been triggered by militants, belongs to the 116 F Coy of the boarder guarding force posted at Heirok Chingdongpok. He has been identified only as Rohtag.
He was taken to Thoubal Hospital where he received first aid. The condition of the head constable is stated to be out of danger as he suffered minor injuries in the blast.
Meanwhile, a powerful IED was found at the residential complex of 25 BRTF Commandant located at Lamphel here this morning.
The IED was first spotted by the gardener of the residential complex who in turn informed the other personnel who were on sentry duty at the gate of the residential complex. Later, Manipur police bomb experts were called in at the site who seized the bomb.
Police said the IED was very powerful and that an FIR has been registered in connection with the incident.
Goutam Sahani, the gardener of 25 BRTF Commandant Mohanlal SE (civil) told media persons that he discoverd a trash like package wrapped with a polythene bag inside the complex yesterday. He later threw out the bag outside the gate thinking it as a litter.
However, the sentries were informed about the unknown bag around 8:30 am Friday only.When opened the bag an IED was found wrapped inside it, the watchman said.
The police said the bomb was not a local made one but made by a well established company. It could have destroyed everything within a 100 metre distance. They said a defusal plan for the bomb was aborted as it was very powerful so they seized it after registering an FIR.
On Thursday, a blast had occurred at the campus of the Special Bureau office of Reasearch and Analysis Wing (RAW) at Lamphel in Imphal. no was injured the incident.
