IMPHAL, April 13: As a part of the Military Civic Action program taken up under the aegis of IGAR(S), the 23 Assam rifle posted at Sagolmang today distributed three solar street lamps to the people of Khundrakpam assembly constituency.
The solar lamps were distributed by the 23 AR post commander major Pradeep, and during the simple program the major assured the people of khundrakpam that more assistance under the MCA project for development of the constituency in the future.

IMPHAL April 16: The statement given by the Chief Minister on April 13 at a function held at Mantripukhri IGAR(S) headquarters is unclear, states publicity secretary of RPF,T Leishemba in a press release.
Dishonest words will not bring about a solution to the Indo Manipur political conflict, the CM needs to be honest and must analyze the political conflict so the public can accept his statements whole heartedly.
It is a fact that the Manipuris want to be an independent nation and do not want to reel under a colonial rule and the insurgent movement is not made up by disgruntled unemployed persons.
Britain suffered huge losses due to the aftereffects of the second World War and was helped by America to get up economically. The countries under the colonial rule of the British were finally given independence and except for India waged an armed struggle. It is a matter of deliberation that India did not get its independence due to the non violence movement initiated by Gandhi.
The endeavor of Gandhi was respected by the British, but the non violent protest by Irom Sharmila has been ignored by and large by the Indian government, gross violation of human rights are perpetrated by the security forces in the name of counter insurgency including the north east and Kashmir, it states.
The corrupt governance of the Ibobi government has seen ministers and officers holding high posts accumulating property from the development projects meant for the public. Also the SPF government hardly acts without provocation, the release charged.

IMPHAL, April 23: The Kangmong Langoljam Youth Guidance Club under the guidance of All Manipur Volleyball Association is organising 1st inter village open volleyball tournament from May 4 at Kangmong Langoljam.
The club appeal interested clubs/organisations and associations willing to participate in the tournament to register their entries on or before May 1 with entry fee amount of Rs 200.
The winner of the tournament will be richer by Rs 6000 while the runner will get Rs 4000 cash prize. The best player of the tournament will be also be given cash prize of Rs 500, said a release.

IMPHAL, April 20: One hardcore cadre of KCP (MC) Lalheiba group was apprehended yesterday afternoon by a team of Bishnupur Police commando during an operation at Thanga Oinam Maning Leikai.

According to a release, the arrested cadre is identified as Oinam Ghana alias Inaocha alias Angou, 30, s/o O. Meino Singh of Thanga Oinam Leikai.

The release further said the arrested militant is working as S/S Bishnupur district commander. Police recovered one 9mm pistol with 4 live rounds from his possession, the release added.

The release further said that on preliminary interrogation the cadre revealed that he is a trained cadre of banned outfit PLA and later joined to KCP (MC) Lalheiba group in the year 2009.

IMPHAL, April 22: KVFA Khurai defeated LUKSA by 3-0 in today’s first match of the ongoing 13th Challenge Cup veteran football tournament being held at Mapal Kangjeibung.
S Suresh put Khurai team ahead in the 22nd minute while K Kedajit increased the goal margin by netting in two goals in the 32nd and 46th minutes.
Later, in the second match FLAM defeated Takhel by 2-0.
Th Amuba of Takhel had a own goal in the 1st minute of the match to move FLAM ahead. Later, Surmani scored in the 27th minute to lead 2-0 which eventually become the final scoreline.
Tomorrow, UMO will play IVFA while Chingtam will clash with FC Imphal.

IMPHAL, April 27: In the ongoing 13th Challenge CUp veteran football tournament, VSAI defeated Sadar Hills by 3-0 in the first match played today at Mapal Kangjeibung.
VSAI opened their goal account in the 11th minute through a spot kick taken by Upen. He later scored another goal for the team in the 30th minute. The other goal for the winning team was scored by Stanlee in the 29th minute.
In the second ground match, Chingtam drew with IMVFA with a 1-1 scoreline.
IMVFA found the opening in the 15th minute through Ph Shashikumar.
After trailing one goal, Chingtam managed to equalise in the 62nd minute through a Pari strike.
Referee book one yellow card to S Binen in the 49th minute for unsporting behaviour.

IMPHAL, April 28: IMC Thoubal emerged winner of the boys state level handball tournament while SAIRC emerged winner in the girls section of the 31st junior boys and girls state level handball tournament held at CITIZENS club, Soibam Leikai, Imphal East.
In the final match for the junior boys, IMC defeated YLK by 24-10 goals while SAIRC defeated CITIZEN by 17-10.
Ksh Lenin scored a total of nine goals for IMC in the  first match while Th Milan and N Sharatchandra scored four goals each. N Joychandra scored three goals while L Lanngamba scored two goals in the match.
For CLK, K Bidyananda scored eight goals while S Lalit and W Romio scored one goal each.
In the final match for the girls, SAIRC defeated CITIZEN by 17-10.
O Anjali of SAIRC was top scorer in the final as she netted in a total of 10 goals. B Sunitibala scored four goals while N Abinash and Th Kamala scored two and one goal respectively.
Ribeka scored seven goal for the CITIZEN while T Ranju scored two and W Ranjita scored one goal.

IMPHAL, April 29: YOSC Khurai registered a thumping win against NKYFA with 6-2 score in today`™s match of the 3rd Th Birchandra football academy state U-13 football tournament being held at Toubungkhok.

Md Chaoba scored two goal for YOSC as also Md Sarif while Md Sibaj scored one goal.

The goal for NKYFA were scored by T Romen.

In the second match, TBSFA trounced YUC by 11-0 goals.

In the third match played today SKDC lost to Linthoi by a lone goal.

The only goal of the match was scored G Nanaoba in the 33rd minute.

In the fourth match, GSC beat XI Star by 4-0.

IMPHAL, May 5: Nagaland veteran football team has entered semi final of the 13th Challenge Cup veteran football tournament being held at Mapal Kangjeibung.

In the third quarter final match played today Nagaland team defeated UVFA by 3-0 goals.

In the semi final, the Nagaland veteran football team will clash with IMVFA Heingang on May 7.

In the fourth quarter final match played today, FC Imphal defeated KVFA to move into the semi final.

FC Imphal won the match 2-1.

Krishna Kumar scored first goal for FC Imphal in the 8th minute. Seven minutes later Krishna Kumar scored again and increased the goal margin which was reduced by KVFA`™s Kendrajit in the 33rd minute.

FC Imphal will clash FLAM in the second semi final to be played on May 8.

IMPHAL, May 6:  In a press release, the Jawaharlal Nehru Dance Academy Repertory’s ‘Bidai Abhisap’ will be shown in Dhaka on May 8 at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on the occasion of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranth Tagore.  It is sponsored by the Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi under Indo-Bangladesh Cultural Exchange Programme. The much appreciated dance-drama is based on Tagore’s poem of the same title and translated in Manipuri by the renowned theatre-director, Ratan Thiyam, choreographed by N.Amusana Devi, Sr.Production Asst.
The show in Dhaka will be the seventh show including two shows in Santiniketan and Kolkata, it further added. It further mentions that a five member team of Pung Cholom artists will depart for Ethiopia on May 13.

IMPHAL, May 7: The second excursion tour to Sendra Loktak project comprising of 62 students and eight teachers from various schools of Tamei was flagged off by the Battalion Commander, 10 DOGRA on May 6. The students will also visit the INA Museum at Moirang and other sightseeing places around Imphal during the two day trip. The educational cum fun tour was organised by 10 DOGRA under the aegis of Red Shield Division. The excursion will provide an opportunity to students studying in different schools at Tamei to expose themselves to the outside world learning and acquiring knowledge while having fun, added the release.The educational tour is one amongst the many events being organised by the Army to assist the student community. IMPHAL, May 10: Nagaland Veteran Football Association has lifted the 13th Challenge Cup trophy. In the thrilling final played today at Mapal Kangjeibung, Nagalang defeated FC Imphal by 1-0. The all important goal for the Nagaland veteran football team was scored by Shanti in the 38th minute. FC Imphal player tried their hearts out to clinch the title but Shanti’s solitary first half goal dashed their hope as they failed to square the lone goal deficit till the end of regulation period. FC Imphal had to content with the runners-up trophy which carry a cash prize of Rs 10000.The thrilling final match saw some uneasy scenes during later part of first half as three players of either side were shown yellow cards by referee Sh Suresh.Nagaland DGP K Kire who attended the prize distribution ceremony donated Rs 1 lakh to organisers as well as Rs 20,000 to the winner and Rs 10,000 to runners up team.Shanti, who scored only goal of the final match was awarded with Rs 1000 for scoring first goal of the final match while his teammate Noklo recieved same cash prize for best defender’s trophy. IMPHAL, May 11: MEIRAA and SSA defeated their opponents in today’s matches of 35th mens and 17th women state league hockey tournament being held at Khuman Lampak.
In the first match, MEIRAA defeated SYUC by 3-2 while SSA had a convincing win against YAC with a 5-0 scoreline.
MEIRAA had early lead in the first match as S Alexander scored in the 2nd minute of the match. However, P Rakesh equalised in the 26th thereby levelling the score.
MEIRAA maintain the lead again in the 33rd minute through a goal from Roheshkumar which was once again equalised by SYUC with a fine goal from M Dhananjoy in the 47th minute.
Th Anand put in third goal for MEIRAA in the 59th minute which eventually seperated the two teams.
In the second match, SSA outclassed YAC with a thumping 5-0 win.
H Mani and H Romi scored two goals each for SSA while S Bishwaskumar scored the other goal.

IMPHAL May 12: A foundation laying ceremony of a new school building for Moirangpural High school was held today at the proposed site at Moirangpural under Andro constituency. Moirangpural high school is among the four schools in Andro constituency that were recently upgraded to high school status from junior high school.

The school has 650 students studying from class III to class IX at present.

Th. Shyamkumar Singh, MLA, Andro constituency, today laid the ceremonial foundation of the new school building. A function was held at the school campus to mark the foundation laying ceremony.

Speaking at the occasion, Th Shyamkumar encouraged the students to be aware of the environment and the issues resulting from deforestation.

He assured the students of the newly upgraded Moirangpural High School of a sum of Rs 5000 to each student who can successfully plant five fruit tree saplings. He informed that he has already acquired several varieties of tree saplings from the concerned department, which will be distributed to the students within two days time, he added.

He also assured an award of Rs 10 lakhs to any student from his constituency who can bag the first position in the State High School Leaving examination and senior secondary examination and another Rs 10 lakhs for the teachers of any school which could produce student with the first position.

He also promised Rs One lakh award for any student from his constituency who could come among the first ten toppers in the state in both the examinations.

He said that the government has been extending its full corporation on many spheres. The government has been helping in developing the infrastructure of the schools, providing free books and other essential items to the schools from time to time.

`Yesterday, 150 pairs of desk and benches were provided to the school from the concerned government department`, he said. He further added that another 150 pairs of desk and benches were provided to Poroukhongjil High school that has 710 students.

The four schools of the constituency that were upgraded to high school status from junior high school recently are Andro High school, Hueikap High school, Moirangpural High school and Poroukhongjil High school.

He further stated that many local teachers as well as others from outside the constituency are engaged in the schools. Shyamkumar added that the teachers of these schools were paid from his own expense every month.

He appealed the invitees, teachers and students gathered in the function to act sincerely and responsibly, as the developmental and welfare initiatives were taken up in accordance with the objectives of free and compulsory education.

The ceremonial function was attended by staffs and students of the school as well as many guardians of the students from the locality.

IMPHAL, May 13: SSA Charangpat and COSMO Wangkhei have won their respective matches in the 35th mens and 17th womens state hockey league being held at Khuman Lampak.

In the first match played today SSA defeated YCPA Chandel by 6-0.

M Sapana scored two goals for SSA in the 1st and 48th minute while M Pushparani scored three goals in the 7th, 25th and 44th minute. Ch Abesana scored one goal too.

In the 35th mens league, COSMO had an easy win against SYUC, Uchekon Khunou.

Rahul scored four goals for COSMO in the 43rd, 51st, 59th and 69th minute. while K Boy scored two goals in the 52nd and 66th minute. Momo too scored one goal in the 35th minute.

The only goal for the SYUC was scored by Dhananjoy in the 64th minute.
