IMPHAL, Jun 20: 11 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organized the inauguration ceremony on provision of solar powered electrification at B Bongjang village at Moreh under Assam Rifles Civic Action Project for the financial year 2016-17 on June 14. AR conducts lecture

IMPHAL, Jun 20:11 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted a lecture on social issues at COB Chongjang.
Villagers from Chongjang and Tibongmol took part in the lecture given by the COB Commander with special emphasis on fighting corruption, dowry system, crime against women, child labour, human trafficking, smuggling and other illegal activities. All attendants were advised and motivated to avoid indulgence in such activities and further educate their relatives and acquaintances, informed a statement issued by PRO of IGAR (S).

New POPSKs in NE

IMPHAL, Jun 20: Ministry of External Affairs and Dept of Posts are utilising the Head Post Offices (HPO)/Post Offices in the country as Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) for delivery of passport related services to the citizens of the country. It is done with the objective to extend passport related services on a larger scale and to ensure wider area coverage. According to a statement, out of the 86 announced POPSKs, 52 POPSKs have become functional including one at Silchar, Assam under the first phase of the programme. MEA and DOP are working closely for the operationalisation of passport related services at the remaining 34 POPSKs in the first phase. Following the success of these POPSKs and the positive response from the people, MEA and DOP have now decided to open another 149 POPSKs to take the total number of POPSK to 235 including 13 POPSKs in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, it said. MEA has opened 14 Passport Seva Laghu Kendras after May 2014. With the addition of 235 POPSKs, the total number of Passport Seva Kendras to be added by the present Govt would be 251, it added.

IMPHAL, Jun 20: On 20 June, COB Mayang Imphal of 5 JAK RIF of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised an Iftar party at Bengun as a measure to connect with people to celebrate and share the holy month of Ramadan. The Iftar party was attended by village elders, Maulvis of local Mosques and several other civil dignitaries of village Irong, Bengun, Khelakhong and Uchiwa. IMPHAL, Jun 20: The 11KV Nityainanda feeder will be shut down from 9 am to 4 pm tomorrow for installation of a transformer at Imphal Hospital, RIMS road.
