IMPHAL, Aug 3: The last date of issue and submission of application form for state teacher eligibility test has been extended till August 6.

A notification from the Board of Secondary Education Manipur further said the qualification for ST/SC/OBC/PH candidates will be at least 45% marks in senior secondary (or its equivalent) for paper-I and graduation with 45% marks for paper-II while for candidates who have passed two-year diploma in elementary education (eligible to appear at Paper-I only) will be at least 45%, 42% and40% marks in senior secondary respectively for general, OBC and SC/ST/PH.

IMPHAL, August 5: Chief Minister O Ibobi has conveyed his best wishes for the speedy recovery of health of Sonia Gandhi, chairperson UPA and president of the All India Congress Committee.

In a letter sent on August 5, the Chief Minister has stated that there were extreme concerns in the state on learning of Sonia Gandhi’s medical conditions which necessitated surgical treatment in the United States, stated a release of the secretary to Chief Minister.

It has also added that there is great satisfaction to know that she is recovering following successful surgery.

The Chief Minister has conveyed his best wishes for a speedy recovery from the ailment and a good health and long life, added the release.

A separate release of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee signed by its president Gaikhangam has stated that it joins the entire nation in praying for the successful surgery and speedy recovery of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

IMPHAL, August 9:Troops of 33 Assam Rifles and 5/9 GR of Loktak Brigade under Red Shield division apprehended two Over Ground Workers of KYKL identified as Suman Singh, 40, s/o Maipa Singh, resident of Thanglang Muang Leikai Ward No 8, Bishnupur and Naoram Robin Singh, 28, s/o Noram Iboyal Singh resident of Uchiwa Wangma Awang Leikai Imphal West from their village.

They revealed their involvement in recruitment, tax collection and extortion related activities for the banned terrorist outfit KYKL from the areas around Bishnupur and Imphal West. The apprehendees were handed over to Mayang and Moirang police stations, respectively.

IMPHAL August 13: The proscribed UPPK in a press release by its IPR in charge Khuman Laishramcha states that the charges of the security forces alleging that one N Thoithoi, 36, s/o N Thambal of Bashikhong Khongampat is a cadre of the outfit is baseless. The release states that a combined team of 10 AR and Imphal East commandos arrested one Ningombam Sanjoi alias Dhopa, 32, s/o late Budhi of bashikhong Mamang Leikai on August 8. It was also charged that Thoithoi is a cadre namely Loya of the UPPK. Arresting innocent public on false charges is a habit of the security forces, it said.

IMPHAL August 26: The first meeting of the core committee on formulation of the State Drug Policy was held today at the chamber of the commissioner, Social Welfare department.

A press release by the director of the department G Satyabati said that the commissioner of the said department and director will be the chairperson and convener of the committee respectively.The meeting also resolved the formation of an information sub committee which will be led by Prof. W Nabakumar of Manipur University. To further form a drafting sub committee and submit the draft policy document within a year’s time.

The department also appeals to all government and non government sectors to extend co ordination by giving invaluable inputs and suggestions wherever necessary in a  step for endeavoring the venture to curb the menace of drug related problems or issues in the state.

IMPHAL Sept 2: A combined team of Imphal East police commandos and 28 Assam Rifles arrested one KCP woman cadre namely Kshetrimayum Taba Devi(41), d/o Ksh Iboyaima Singh of Singjamei Wangma Bheigyabati Leikai from Singjamei bridge yesterday.

On verification, she disclosed that she joined the KCP organization in the month of April 2011 through one Samson of Kakwa Maibam Leikai and was involved in transportation of arms and ammunition from one place to another.

IMPHAL, Sept 13: One day zonal meeting on “Developing a Network of De-addiction services from Government, NGO and Private Sector” was organized today at Hotel Nirmala, by the Department of Psychiatry, RIMS which was co-ordinated by NDDTC and AIIMS, New Delhi supported by WHO (I) and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

The inaugural function of the zonal meeting today was granced by Prof. S Shekhajit Singh, director RIMS, Imphal, as chief guest, Dr. L Surchandra Singh, Addl. Director Health Services, government of Manipur,  and Satyabati Devi, director Social welfare chaired as guest of honour. In the presidential chair Prof. N Heramani Singh, head of department, department of psychiatry RIMS, Imphal.

IMPHAL, Sept 15: United Committee Manipur (UCM) has urged the state government to bring an amicable solution to Sadar Hills issue as early as possible in view of preventing any untoward incident in the near future.

A release of UCM stated that the government is trying to create more problems out of the present Sadar Hills issue by not making a concrete decision. The demand for Sadar Hills district is quite rightful but still the government is unable to grant the districthood.

The state government should also consider granting districthood to Jiribam before any untoward incident occurs, the release added.

IMPHAL September 20: The Irawat Celebration Committee has appealed to the concerned organizations to lift the imposed general strike on September 21.

A press release by secretary of the committee, P Khogen Singh said that the committee has been observing September 21 as “Manipur Kanba Numit” in memory of Hijam Irawat.

The committee will carry out the function as usual at Lamlai Challou Irawat park. It said that the committee demands the whereabouts of any arrested individual irrespective of their personal political views including RPF publicity secretary GM Changjou.

Further, the statement said that the memorial observance of the public leader is an important occasion and has appealed to the public to participate.

In another separate release by Ksh Mema, secreatry of All Manipur Nupi Marup has appealed to the KCP (Maoist) to relax their stance in the interest of the public and to allow full participation to the organised memorial function of Hijam Irawat at Pungdongbam, Lamlai.

Public toilets have been provided to the village as it was felt the genuine need of the villagers. Two public toilets having three rooms and waiting shed each have been constructed at the village by the 42 Assam Rifles under Assam Rifles Military Civic Action Project for the Financial Year 2010-11. The public toilets and waiting shed were handed over to Village Authority and would surely help in overall development of these villages.

GUWAHATI, April 10: The stage is all set for the second and final phase of polls in 64 Assembly constituencies in 14 districts of Central and Lower Assam amidst tight security tomorrow.

Polling will be held amidst tight security as violence was feared in the four Bodo Territorial Administered Districts (BTAD) where the Ranjan Daimary led anti-talk faction of NDFB had indulged in few pre-poll incidents, official sources said.

Altogether 346 companies of central paramilitary forces have been deployed for the polls with 65 to 75 per cent of polling stations, including most of the critical ones to be covered by these security personnel and rest by police.

Polling personnel assigned to far-flung areas have already left for their stations since Friday last and those near to the district or sub-divisional headquarters were scheduled to leave by this evening, official sources said.

According to a release of the association the decision was made considering the restrictions imposed on the encasement of respective salaries of the teachers which is more than Rs.10,000 per employees from the said bank. The release further mentioned that, restrictions of independent encasement by the teacher on their respective personnel account from will not be justifiable and the association further urged the concerned authorities of the state to transfer their bank account to a National bank where there will be independent encasement of money from their respective accounts.
