IMPHAL April 22: The 141st birth anniversary of VI Lenin was celebrated today at Irawat bhavan organized by MSC/ CPI, Manipur.
The birth anniversary was celebrated in remembrance of his contributions and sacrifices that Lenin had contributed for the welfare of the society.
L. Thoiren, secretariat member MSC/CPI while giving his inaugural speech praised and remembered the works and contributions of this great reformer and visionary. During the occasion, other invitees and dignitaries also spoke on the theme Leninism and Socialism in 21st century.
The celebration was attended by many admirers, scholars and media persons from both print and electronic media. V.I. Lenin is one of the great thinker, political and social reformer and revolutionary of the late 20th century. He is mostly remembered for the Great October revolution of 1917 in Russia.

IMPHAL May 2: The trps of AssamRifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) launched operation in genral area of Kalhang Road of Ukhrul District, having discovered movements of UG cadres and apprehended one NSCN(IM) cadre at around twelve p.m. on thirtieth of April who was identified as Jacob Shimray, 52 years old, s/o Angai Shimray from Merumphung, Chingai.

45 Auto Pistol and Kendwood 144MHz FM Tran receiver TH-22AT communication sets were recovered it further added.

In a similar situation, a KCP cadre was apprehended from YKPI market on the first of May who was identified as Lamkhogim Haokip alis Kiran, 24 years old, s/o Paosei from Vill-Kotien, Keithalmanbi. It further added that one Mobile Phone was recovered and handed over to Lamlai Police Station.

IMPHAL May 3: The troops of 29 Assam Rifles under HQ IGAR(South) launched operation in general area of Sita track on the first of May and intercepted four individuals with banned wild life products in a Maruti Gypsy Regd MN-01K 2067, heading towards Moreh. All the individuals were from Tengnoupal and were identified as Douzathang Paocha, 31 years old , s/O Khai Lhun, Helun Mate, 30 years old, s/o Lilen and Mamang Mate, 25years old, according to press release by the 29 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(SOUTH).

It further added that 15 kgs of Tiger bones with two skulls, one tiger skin weighing 4.5 kgs and was handed over to the Forest Department, Imphal after an FIR was lodged with Tegnoupal Police Station.

In yet another similar incident, the troops apprehended a Myanmarese national at around 4.30 p.m. on the first of May without valid document, who was identified as Myintoo alias Peter alias Bunny Pao, 38years old, s/o Uah Yel from Kyang Tong, Shan(Myanmar).One fake Indian driving license, wallet, mobile phone with Thailand SIM card ,two Myanmar SIM cards, one Indian SIM, foreign visiting cards along Indian and Thailand currency and was handed over to Tegnoupal Police Station, it further added.

IMPHAL May 12: The proscribed KCP(MC) in a press statement by Korouhanba, assistant secretary military affairs of the outfit warns the INC candidates cannot contest the upcoming municipal elections under the congress banner.

It further states that the 27 councilors and 54 members which will contest for the elections can be a representative of any political party beside the INC. If the aspiring candidates have to contest, then they must substantiate their claim through the media that they have no ties with the congress party.

The outfit warns of dire consequences if the warning is not heeded by the contestants. It says that the decision to boycott the congress was taken by the outfit`™s Central Security Council earlier ,and the armed wing Kangleipak Feengang Lanmee(KFL) has been issued orders to carry out the necessary actions in the regard.

Further, the outfit appeals to the general public to stay away from the political conferences or any event associated with the INC election campaign as unwanted incidents may occur .

IMPHAL May 19: The result of the drawing and painting competition held in connection with the International Day of Biodiversity, which was organized by office of Biodiversity Board, Imphal, Government of Manipur has been declared.

In Group 1(class I to V), Sh. Santosh Singh from Kakching Wairi Ningthou Pareng, studying in Class V at Kakching Wairi High School got the 1st prize.

In Group 2 (class VI to XII), Sh. Asem Indrajit from Oinam Sawombung Awang Leikai studying in IX at The Brilliant Public School got the first prizes.

A prize distribution ceremony would be held on May 22 at Manipur Orchid Preservation Centre, Khongampat. The Students should reach the venue at 8.30 am I school uniform along with their teachers/ parents.

IMPHAL, May 28: A two days campaign on Yoga and Naturopathy for holistic health was organized by CCRYN, Department of Ayush, Ministry of Health and FW, New Delhi. It was inaugurated today at CC Higher Secondary School by Dr. Thokchom Meinya as President and Y Surchandra Singh, IAS (Retd.), M Manihar Singh, Ex `“MLA, W Rajen Singh, director of education, Dr SK Shyamjai Singh, Ayush officer, Dr SK Kejariwal, professor at JNU, Dr Rastogi, assistant director (CCYN) AS Guests of Honour at the inaugural function, according to a press release by the Indian Naturopathy and Yoga Medical Graduate Association.

It was participated by two hundred and forty five people. The President and the Guests of Honour stated that yoga and naturopathy is a must for holistic health of the people.

Dr. M Sarju explained about the naturopathy concept for general health and disease and she further extended on topics of Women problems (menstrual disorders, pregnancy) through yoga and nature cure. IMPHAL, June 7: The Medical Team of 18 Sikh Regiment has saved a lady being bitten by a venomous snake on June 7.
The victim is identified as one Salam Ashalata Devi, 53, of Chingamaklo Maisuam Leikai of Imphal West district. She was brought to the unit hospital in a critical condition and administered with anti snake venom, informed a statement of the PRO IGAR (S).

IMPHAL, June 9: In yet another case of theft in Imphal Bazar area where security forces deployed for round the clock, unidentified looters broke open shutters of two electronic shops located at Paona International market.
Some DVD machine and money in cash around Rs 2000 were looted namely Sunrise Electronics and Chingtham Brothers Enterprises.
The DVD machines were left behind but some cash stored at the shops have been taken away by the looters.
Owner’s of the two shops expressed concern about state police’s inability to nab gang who are frequently looting shops in Imphal city area.

LAMKA, Jun 15: At least three people have died in separate incidents in Churachandpur district today.
In the first incident two youths were reportedly drowned at the Khuga dam when their boat capsized in the Khuga dam multipurpose upstream.

The victims were identified as Dalsangluai, 18, s/o Goukhenpau from Bungmual village and his friend Paukhanthang s/o K Dongzalam from New Lamka.

The duo along with their friends was rowing a makeshift boat at the upstream of the dam when their boat capsized due to over capacity.

Soon after the incident their bodies were fished out of the water and were rushed to the district hospital. However doctors at the hospital declared them brought dead, said the sources.

In another incident a construction labourer was electrocuted this morning at new Lamka.

The victim is identified as one Khamkhanpiang, 35, s/o Ginjanang of Tangnuam village.

Sources said that the incident occurred around 9:20 am while the victim was working at a construction site.

The victim was carrying an iron bar upto the upper floor of the building when unluckily the bar he was carrying touched the HT line located very close and died instantly due to the shock, said the sources.

IMPHAL June 18: 16 Maratha Light Infantry of Loktak Brigade, under Red Shield Division organised a cultural exchange programme at Kwakta today.

The rich customs and traditions and the ethnic diversity of Manipur was showcased by the local troupes who performed Meitei, Naga, Kuki and Pangal events. The security forces from their side showcased their respective traditional events including Lazim (Martial dance of Maharashtra), Bhangra (traditional dance of Punjab), Khukri dance.

A total of 50 boys and girls of various age groups belonging to Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Tamenglong districts participated in the said programme. The programme was being organised to ensure peace and  to foster unity among all ethnic groups and showcase the unity in diversity existing in the security forces.

The commanding officer welcomed all participants and public on the occasion and assured them that the Army will always make the extra effort to ensure peace and to bridge the ethnic divide in the area.

IMPHAL, June 21(Newmai News Network): The Saikul unit of Kuki Inpi and Kuki Students Organisation (KSO) said they will oppose tooth and nail to the proposed construction of a police station at Purum Likli village under Saikul subdivision. 

The two Kuki organisations said such move of the state government of Manipur amounts to `militarisation` of the hill areas. Kuki Inpi, Saikul and KSO (Saikul) alleged that the state government had taken the decision to set up the police station there without taking the consent of the local people. They said any plan which is carried out without the consent of the local people is “violation of the rights of the people.” The two Kuki bodies then said ever since the Suspension of Operation (SoO) was signed with the Kuki underground groups the situation has been peaceful and “the need for setting up of the police station there is not needed.”
