IMPHAL, July 9: A three member team of the National Investigative Agency (NIA) led by Ashim Srivastaba additional SP NIA has arrive in the state capital this morning from Delhi to investigate various insurgency related crimes and the cases involving various underground militant cadres of the state who have been arrested from Delhi.

According to an official source, the official team of NIA will be staying inside the 1st MR complex until their investigations and collection of records of various underground related activities from different sources are completed, the source added.

IMPHAL July 23: ‘ Ashalata ge Hakchang’ , a play produced by the Banian Repertory Theatre and written by MC Arun has been selected to be shown at the Abhinaya National Theatre Festival,2011 which will commence from August 10 at Rabindra Bhawan, Hyderabad.

The play directed by MC Thoiba has been selected from 200 entries from across the nation. The play is based on the present turmoil in the state and emphasizes on the hardships suffered by the public when caught in between state and non state actors.

IMPHAL, July 26: One day workshop on Biodiversity conservation was successfully conducted by Rural Voluntary Organisation, Uyal Makha Leikai yesterday at Wangbal Heiruthong Leikai under the sponsorship of Ministry of Environment and Forest government of India through state Environment and Ecology wing Porompat.

IMPHAL, Aug 3: Many more social organizations have expressed words of condemnation on the Sangakpham blast which rendered five persons dead and seven inured on August 1.

The organizations which have condemned the blast include Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillol Apunba Lup (MEELAL), All Community Development Organization Moreh (ACODOM), United NGOs Mission, Macha Leima, Nongpok Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Lup, Zeliangrong Union, Imphal Zone, Naga Women’s Union and Koren (Koireng) Youth Organization, Manipur.

These organizations have stated that bloodshed and killing of civilians will not bring any good or success to the society. They appealed to all concerned to initiate a common and collective vision to bring permanent justice, peace, harmony and development in the state.

The organizations further demanded the authorities concerned to trace out the culprits and punish them as per the law.

IMPHAL, August 7: The SSP Imphal west has issued an order regarding the transfer and posting of three sub-inspectors yesterday.

As per the official transfer order issued by the Sr. SP Imphal west L Kailun, IPS, SI Aribam Nabakanta Sharma and SI. Md Abash Khan of Imphal West have been transferred to Imphal east and SI. Bedajit Singh has been transferred to Tamenglong district PS.

The official order of Sr. SP Imphal West further mentioned that, the following police officers have been released from Imphal West district PS from yesterday afternoon so as to enable them to join at their new place of posting, and further all the three transferred SI are directed to report to the SP concerned of Imphal East and Tamenglong district for duty immediately.

IMPHAL, Aug 18: A meeting of the Public Accounts Committee of the Manipur Legislative Assembly will be held tomorrow at 2 pm inside the Committee Room of the Manipur Legislative Assembly for finalization of the 35th Draft Report of the PAC.

In this regard, deputy secretary (PAC) of Manipur Legislative Assembly has issued an official notification requesting chairman and members of the committee to attend the meeting.

In the meantime, in separate notification issued by the under secretary (SC/ST), a meeting of the Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes, Manipur Legislative Assembly will be held tomorrow at 11 am in the committee room to further examine information/documents received from various departments, government of Manipur and misc. if any, and all the members of the committee are requested to attend the said meeting, the official notification added.

IMPHAL, Aug 23: A personnel of 33 Assam Rifles Sendra Post got drowned in Loktak Lake yesterday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Bablu Majumdar, 21, of Riatsokhlur 3rd Mile, Upper Shillong East Khasi Hills. He worked as a cleaner in the AR Post.

According to sources, Bablu got drowned in Loktak Lake after he fell into the lake while he was washing clothes.

IMPHAL, Aug 31: A havildar of 38 Assam Rifles posted at Minuthong has reportedly committed suicide after shooting himself by his service AK-Rifle at 5:55 am today.

The deceased jawan has been identified as Bijoykumar, 37, of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to an official, the actual incident of his suicide is yet to be established. Imphal Police has registered a case in this connection.
