However, the losses suffered are yet to be surveyed and compensated, he complained.

Adding to the hardship of the villagers is that not only electricity, but their means of communication has been totally cut off rendering the villagers to a semi-primitive age, he lamented.

He further complained that the failure of the government to even assess and survey the losses is a clear indication that the government deliberately plans to avoid compensation of personal loss of the affected villages which is a gross human rights violation.

This nightmarish man-made calamity, he claimed is the sole outcome of the injudicious and unsystematic planning and preparation of the state government of Manipur.

The president also said that neither State ministers nor MLAs have visited the affected area and consoled the villagers till date, he claimed.

He further stressed that even the JVT (Joint Verification Team) chairman, the incumbent Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul has never set foot in the area except for a brief visit once this year even as the poor villagers live in crowded make-shift tent settlements reeling under harsh and exposed weather.

The president also stated that `We are peace loving people, but if such unkind treatment continues, we shall by force take up democratic agitation and activities which shall not be very palatable`.

He also informed the media persons that a memorandum was also submitted today to the Chief Minister of the state to look into the plight of the villages at the earliest.

Read more / Original news source: http://kanglaonline.com/2015/08/lamlai-khunou-chief-bemoans-mdavos-opposition-to-govts-attempt-to-construct-road/

IMPHAL, August 18: The village chief of Lamlai Khunou, P Mahami and the Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs, Manipur (FATYC) have strongly appealed to the State government to take

[6,4
40,330
post-152007","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-kanglaonline","category-news","tag-headlines","tag-kanglaonline-2
["GET
