IMPHAL, October 19: The All Manipur Students Guardians Organisation has called upon the concerned authorities to modify the process of college and higher school students`\u2122 body election from next academic session.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a press conference at the organisation`\u2122s office at Singjamei Sougrakpam Leikai, secretary of the organisation Sougrakpam Sumati Devi urged the concerned authorities to initiate steps so that the November 2 election of students`\u2122 union of Higher Secondary schools and college is conducted in accordance with the code of conduct imposed by the Lyngdoh Commission.<\/p>\n
She appealed to the concerned principals and the returning officers to ensure that the code of conduct is properly complied to.<\/p>\n
The recent confrontations among students reported during the recent higher secondary school students`\u2122 union election are unfortunate she said, and further urged the candidates to ensure that the election is held in a peaceful manner.<\/p>\n
Such altercations create animosity among the students studying in the same school, she added.<\/p>\n
Sumati further appealed to student organisations to support the effort to make the school students`\u2122 union election peaceful.<\/p>\n
At the same time, she suggested modifying the election process from next session so that it may not affect the academic calendar.<\/p>\n\n
