IMPHAL, May 13: FC Imphal beat KVFA by 2-1 in the today’s final match of the 14th Challenge Cup Veteran Football Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung.<\/p>\n
FC Imphal got off to the best possible start as they took the lead after only nine minutes of the match by Bale Takhel off a cross by Krishna but soon it was equalized by Samson Tangkhul (KVFA) in the next minute through a long range shoot of 30 yards distance and levelled it to 1-1. Just ahead of the half time, a powerful header by L Neisothang (FC Imphal) found the net and again took the lead by 2-1. In the remaining part of the match both the teams were not able to score any goals. <\/p>\n
As winners, FC Imphal went home with a giant trophy and a cash prize of Rs 25,000 while KVFA took home a consolation price of Rs 15,000 for finishing as runners-up.<\/p>\n
Other prize winner includes, Bale Takhel of FC Imphal, 1st goal Final Match with cash prize Rs 1000, Th Krishna, Top Scorer (6 goals) with cash prize Rs 1000, A Priyobrata (KAVA), Best Goal Keeper with cash prize Rs 2000, Ch Nabachandra (FC Imphal), Best Defender with cash prize Rs 1000, L Surchandra (FC Imphal), Best Player with cash prize Rs 1000 and SIRTI (Chandel), Fair Play Trophy.<\/p>\n
Kh Joykishan, MLA Thangmeiband A\/C donated Rs 20,000 and O Lukhoi, MLA Wangoi A\/C donated Rs 10,000, who were present as the chief guest and president respectively.<\/p>\n\n
