Irked over the indifference matted out to North East students in the main land India, different students organization under the banner \u2018North East Students\u2019 Organization (NESO)\u2019, on Thursday publicized its first phase of agitations by holding a sit-in-protest on June 7 at Guwahati.
\nAddressing a press conference in Shillong, NESO, Information and Publicity Secretary and former Khasi Students Union (KSU president, Samuel B Jyrwa said, \u201cWe have decided to stage a one-day sit-in-protest in Guwahati on June 7, over the failure of the central government to address various issues affecting the North East region.\u201d
\nHe also informed that it is the first phase of agitation to demand the central government to address the issues pertaining to the North East Region (NER). \u201cDiscrimination against our students (North Eastern) studying in different parts of country is one of the serious issues which have tormented us. We demand the government to safe-guard the lives of North eastern students studying in main land India,\u201d the publicity secretary of NESO asserted adding \u201cThe other issues of concern are, influx, lifting of the Armed Forces Special Power\u2019s Act (AFSPA) .from NE region,<\/p>\n\n
