A 35-year-old woman was killed when the bicycle which she was travelling on hit by a van at Luker under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West.
\n The road mishap happened at around 8:30 a.m. when the victim, W Shanti of Luker Mayai Leikai, who was travelling on a bicycle, was run over by a van, critically wounding her. However, the driver of the van involved in the accident reportedly took her to Khumbom Primary Health Centre before he fled.
\n Shanti succumbed to her injuries on the way to Shija hospital, Langol.
\nThe police has registered a case regarding the incident and begun investigation into it.
\n\t46 Assam Rifles under the aegis of \u201cRed Shield Division\u201d provided assistance to six passengers who met with an accident on 03 August 2012. The veh (TATA-1612) in which they were travelling fell into a gorge on NH-2, two km short of Chengpi village in Churachandpur District. The incident occurred at approximately 1730 hours while the taxi was heading for Churachandpur from Aina under Thanlon Sub Division.
\n\tOn receiving the information, troops of 46 Assam Rifles immediately rushed to the site and evacuated the injured passengers to their unit hospital and administered first aid to all the injured passengers. 46 Assam Rifles then arranged the emergency evacuation of two of the passengers whose condition was critical to Churachandpur Civil hospital.<\/p>\n\n
