{"id":46250,"date":"2012-11-05T19:21:27","date_gmt":"2012-11-06T00:21:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/manipur-mail.com\/?p=13114"},"modified":"2012-11-05T19:21:27","modified_gmt":"2012-11-06T00:21:27","slug":"sikkim-to-be-first-state-to-provide-%e2%80%98pucca-houses%e2%80%99-to-all-citizens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.manipur.org\/news\/2012\/11\/05\/sikkim-to-be-first-state-to-provide-%e2%80%98pucca-houses%e2%80%99-to-all-citizens\/","title":{"rendered":"Sikkim to be first state to provide \u2018pucca houses\u2019 to all citizens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi, Nov 5 (ANI): Aiming to be the first state in the country to provide &#8216;pucca&#8217; houses to all its citizens, the Sikkim Government has launched a Rs 211.20 crore &#8216;social housing&#8217; project namely &#8220;Chief Minister&#8217;s Rural Housing Mission&#8221;(CMRHM).<br \/>\nUnder the project, housing will be provided to around 30, 000 people residing in &#8216;kutcha&#8217; houses as on January 1, 2011 from economically weaker sections\u00a0\u00a0 to\u00a0 fulfill\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 the realisation of their dream of\u00a0 living in a\u00a0 decent house.<br \/>\n&#8220;The state government has launched Rs 211.20 crore rupees cost ambitious social housing project under which\u00a0\u00a0 around 6000\u00a0 poor household dwellers living\u00a0 in\u00a0 kutcha houses in the state\u00a0 will get a\u00a0 single storey earthquake resistant new pucca house free of cost\u00a0 by the year 2013\u00a0 to\u00a0\u00a0 permanently address the issue of homelessness among the poor in the state,&#8221;\u00a0 said C.C.Wangdi, project director of the mission .<br \/>\nSo far, the State Government has invested Rs 125 crore in the project under the State Plan and Rs 70 crore has been earmarked in this financial year.<br \/>\n&#8220;The administration has completed construction work on 1,137 houses, while work on 3,029 houses will be completed by December next,&#8221; Wangdi said.<br \/>\nAll these 6000 katcha house\u00a0 dwellers were identified\u00a0 through a rigorous\u00a0 baseline survey conducted by Gram Sabhas using transparent\u00a0 criteria followed\u00a0 by multiple level of superivision and cross checks\u00a0 by\u00a0\u00a0 the Rural Management and Development Department.
