SENAPATI, Nov 7 NNN: Along Longkumer, editor of Dimapur based daily newspaper The Morung Express has suggested for the formation of a forum between the Meiteis and the Nagas in order to address the differences.
\nSpeaking as a resource person during the first foundation of The Hornbill Express newspaper at Senapati headquarters today, Along Longkumer said a forum involving the Meiteis and the Nagas has become a matter of urgency so as to address the differences.
\n\u201cIt is actually over due that such a forum is yet to be formed,\u201d said The Morung Express Editor. He said that people-to-people dialogue is important in a situation like in Manipur. Mr Longkumer also stated that unless such move is not initiated the problem is bound to get worsened.
\nUnited Naga Council (UNC) president L Adani while speaking on the occasion lamented that media based in Imphal is often one sided for a long time. \u201cThe launching of The Hornbill Express in Senapati has filled the vacuum,\u201d claimed the UNC president. He also requested the All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) president to do something that the Imphal based newspapers are balanced in their approached. \u201cEditorials of the Imphal based newspapers often represent the views of only one party and ignore the other,\u201d alleged the UNC president.
\nAll Manipur Working Journalists Union president A Mobi harped on the purpose of the media and said they are representing the \u201cvoice of the voiceless.\u201d
\nNaga People\u2019s Organisation (NPO) president Markson lauded The Hornbill Express team and the man behind the paper Peter Adani for making the life of the district easier with the setting up of the newspaper. \u201cStealing cases have decreased. We don\u2019t have to go now to Imphal for a small advertisement. Corruption cases too have been minimised after the launching of The Hornbill Express,\u201d claimed Markson.
\nSeven Sisters Post correspondent Yumnam Rupachandra seconded the suggestion of The Morung Express editor Along Longkumer. While quoting Kaka D Iralu\u2019s comment, Rupachandra said, \u201cWho should others solve our problems. We can sort it out by ourselves the problems here and yes, we need a common forum as suggested by Along Longkumer,\u201d said Yumnam Rupachandra.
\nWitoubou of NNN while speaking as a resource person harped on the hardship faced by the journalists. He also lamented that tribal people do not have patience in staying long as media persons. Witoubou also rued that the tribal people are good in launching newspapers but when comes to sustenance side, they are poor managers.
