A large section of National Highway-2 (Imphal-Moreh road) falls under the district. Movement of all sorts of vehicles along the NH-2 section of the district has been choked due to the strike.
At around 5 pm, a convoy of Manipur police including 3rd IRB coming towards Imphal was reportedly prevented from further approaching near a bus parking in Thoubal Wangma Taba by bandh supporters when a violent scuffle broke between the two sides. The bandh supporters turned violent during the scuffle leading to the police to fire several rounds to control them.
The police were forced to fire several live rounds to control the violent mob during which one Huirongbam Manichandra, 58 of Thoubal Wangma Taba was injured when one bullet hit in his belly.
The injured was later brought to Shija hospital, Langol in Imphal for treatment.
Large number of bandh supporters in some other parts of the district also damaged passenger vehicles including autorickshaws and vans along the highway, reports said.
Earlier, the Naoba JAC also stormed the Thoubal district Deputy Commissioner complex pushing its demands. The JAC then met with the Chief Minister at his bungalow in Imphal.
The meeting with the chief minister also failed to bring any solution to end the stalemate. The JAC, however, submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister O Ibobi. The memorandum urged the CM to take steps to book the culprits involved in the killing of Naoba by December 5.
It said the indefinite bandh being enforced by the JAC will continue until the state Government books the culprits.
Then again, another 12-hour Manipur bandh has been announced by the JAC formed against the missing of Nitin Masih. Nitin is a native of Indore in Madhya Pradesh. He was reported missing November 24 evening from his wife’s village Kakching Pallel Lamkhai in Thoubal district.
The JAC has been demanding the state Government to help trace Nitin whose whereabouts is still unknown since he was reportedly abducted by unidentified people six days ago.

Read more / Original news source: http://manipur-mail.com/twelve-hour-bandh-today/

Imphal, Dec 1 NNN: A 12-hour Manipur bandh has been called from 6 am of Sunday in connection with the disappearance of one Nitin Masih of Madhya Pradesh.
