{"id":51485,"date":"2013-01-20T19:29:34","date_gmt":"2013-01-21T00:29:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/manipur-mail.com\/?p=15220"},"modified":"2013-01-20T19:29:34","modified_gmt":"2013-01-21T00:29:34","slug":"manipuri-dance-and-tagore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.manipur.org\/news\/2013\/01\/20\/manipuri-dance-and-tagore\/","title":{"rendered":"Manipuri dance and Tagore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IMPHAL, Jan 20 NNN: Rabindranath Tagore was responsible for making the Manipuri dance getting recognised world-wide, according to a seminar in Imphal.<br \/>\nA one-day seminar entitled, \u201cRabindranath Tagore and the Manipuri Dance\u201d was held today at Harimati Dance and Music Centre, Porompat in Imphal East district where noted resource persons presented their papers.<br \/>\nThe occasion was organised by Harimati Dance and Music Centre in collaboration with the North East Zone Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, Dimapur.<br \/>\nGracing the occasion, former vice chancellor of Manipur University Ng Bijoy who is also a sitting MLA said that in the year 1919 Rabindranath Tagore first witnessed a Manipuri dance in Sylhet, Bangladesh. After that event, the Nobel laureate started analysing Manipuri dance and since then the dance became known world-wide, Ng Bijoy said.
