IMPHAL, Feb 25: Chandel district magistrate has announced to clamp prohibition CrPC 144 from 7 am of February 27 when the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar (BCIM) Car Rally which is scheduled to head towards the border town Moreh on the day.
\nThe restriction order has been announced in view of the indefinite \u2018public blockade\u2019 underway since last midnight sponsored by the Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) demanding from the government to start political dialogues with the Kuki militants immediately.
\nSources said the CrPC 144 will be promulgated from Pallel till the Indo-Myanmar township Moreh on Wednesday.
\nMeanwhile, all the transport services originating from the state capital Imphal to the hill districts of Manipur have been suspended since last midnight in view of the KSDC public blockade. However, there was not a single case of untoward incident reported due to the KSDC agitation.
\nReacting to the move of the Chandel district administration to clamp the CrPC 144, KSDC spokesman George Guite said they have taken strong exception to the development. \u201cOurs is a genuine demand and why should the administration decided to clamp such prohibition order against our democratic movement,\u201d George Guite asked. He then said whatever may be the development \u201cour volunteers are now stationed in all the strategic points to prevent the BCIM Car Rally in Kuki areas.\u201d He said if forces upon, their volunteers are ready to sacrifice their lives for the Kuki cause.<\/p>\n\n
