{"id":53862,"date":"2013-03-01T20:28:43","date_gmt":"2013-03-02T01:28:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/manipur-mail.com\/?p=16083"},"modified":"2013-03-01T20:28:43","modified_gmt":"2013-03-02T01:28:43","slug":"surrendered-militants-to-be-kept-at-chothe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.manipur.org\/news\/2013\/03\/01\/surrendered-militants-to-be-kept-at-chothe\/","title":{"rendered":"Surrendered militants to be kept at Chothe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IMPHAL, March 1 NNN : Manipur Government is all set to construct a rehabilitation centre for surrendered militants.<br \/>\nOn Friday, Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur Gaikhangam today inspected the site where a new rehabilitation centre will be constructed for the militants who had surrendered to the Manipur Government and back to the fold recently after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).<br \/>\nThe inspected site was Chothe village in Bishnupur district. This location was earlier occupied by 24 CRPF. However, no budget has been arranged yet for construction of the new rehabilitation centre as of date. The purposed site is measuring 10 acre.<br \/>\nSpeaking to journalists, Gaikhangam noted that accommodating militants, who had bid arms, in the Assam Rifles camps for a long time has created hassle and even experienced unpleasant incidents.<br \/>\nHe said, \u201cTaking into account of the situation, the state Government has taken up certain steps to construct this rehabilitation centre for them.\u201d<br \/>\nNecessary infrastructure for the proposed centre will be developed soon at Chothe village, he said anticipating a proper rehabilitation centre for the surrendered militants.<br \/>\nManipur Government has already planned to establish at least four rehabilitation centres for surrendered militants in the four valley districts of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur and Thoubal.<br \/>\nDuring the inspection visit, the Deputy Chief Minister who also holds the portfolio of Home, was accompanied by Commerce and Industries minister Govindas Konthoujam, Principal Secretary (Home), Dr J Suresh Babu, DGP of Manipur Police, Y Joykumar and other top civil officials.<br \/>\nThe Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and Manipur Government entered into a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with three militant groups\u2014United Revolutionary Front (URF), Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) Lamphel group and Kanglei Yaon Kanna Lup faction of KYKL- MDF on February 13.
