\nImphal, Aug 7 : : A two day workshop on \u201cRoad connectivity of Hill District\u201d began today organized by Tribal Research Institute, Manipur, Chingmeirong, Imphal.
\nThe inaugural function of the workshop was graced by Gaikhangam, Deputy CM ( Home, TA & Hills\/TRr, Hort & Soil Consn ), Francis Ngajokpa, Minister ( RD & PR \/Eco & Statistics , Dr. Kh. Ratankumar, Minister ( Works & Transport) as the Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Gaikhagam said that more development programmes and schemes are given to the hills than the valley as the hills are less developed.
\nHe further said it is useless to point fingers at each other as the progress of our state is late than other states.
\nWe need to keep the relationship between the hills and valley with discipline and love. All people should appreciate the Department. Government and agencies of the progress for further development in the state.
\nHe concluded by saying, road connectivity is very important but mind connectivity is more important for a better Manipur.
\nThe president of the function, Francis Ngajokpa expressed his opinion and grief over the inability to fully utilize the funds sanctioned for development as the people who should be involved were not involved. He said that the benefits are just for the hills not the valley but the elected members had even boycotted the meetings organized by the government. He said that connectivity needs co-operation, responsibility, courage and sincerity ,
\nDr. Kh. Ratankumar, Guest of Honour, said the progress and survival of state utterly depends on the road connectivity.
\nThe road connectivity is the nervous system and without it the state will collapse as it happens often when there is Ni-1 blockade. He further mentioned, even though the state lacks resources we should work in harmony .<\/p>\n\n
