JIRIBAM, January 21: With the Republic Day celebration just days away, security arrangement has been tightened throughout the state.<\/p>\n
Amidst such arrangements, a combined team of Jiribam Police commandos and the 27 AR defused an Improvised Explosive Device planted at Lamkhai Bazar along the National Highway 37 yesterday.<\/p>\n
The IED was planted near a hotel at the bazar which is on the east of Jiri police station around 11.30 pm, yesterday.<\/p>\n
Sources said the combined team had received prior information about the planting of the IED weighing around 5 kg.<\/p>\n
The explosive was detonated this morning around 7.55 at a nearby paddy field.<\/p>\n
After defusing the explosive yesterday, it was detonated this morning.<\/p>\n
The bomb which was strategically placed could have resulted in several death, if it had exploded.<\/p>\n\n
