IMPHAL, March 9: Family members today identified the youth who was gunned down yesterday by a security team in a shootout inside a house at Komlaching Foothill after he allegedly tried to snatch a two wheeler brandishing a 9mm pistol. <\/p>\n
Speaking to media persons at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences morgue identified the youth as Hungmiyo Chinghanmei, 17 son of Hungmiyo Yaringai of Soraland under Yairipok Police.<\/p>\n
The body was today claimed by the family following the conduct of post mortem.<\/p>\n
The father told media persons that his son was innocent and had no relation with any underground outfit, whatsoever.<\/p>\n
Chinghanmei was the last among three siblings and he had gone to Mayai Keithel yesterday morning alone but failed to returned, the bereaved father lamented.<\/p>\n
On learning about the shoot-out, the family had decided to check the dead at the JNIMS Mortuary and came today, he continued.<\/p>\n
Chinghanmei was gunned down yesterday by personnel of Thoubal commandos and Assam Rifles inside a house located at Komlaching Foothill along the Yairipok to Kasom Khullen Road under Yairipok Police Station at around 11.30am after he refused to surrender before the team.<\/p>\n\n
