IMPHAL, March 22: the proscribed Revolutionary Peoples’ Front has claimed in a press statement that its armed wing, PLA attacked the security forces with explosives near the Yairipok Malom village under Thoubal district this morning around 10:30am.
The statement claimed that a team of the Special Warfare Group, PLA had triggered explosives killing two personnel of the 15 Assam Rifles. The statement identified the two personnel as Havildar Mahender and Sepoy Pratap Tawang.
It said the bombs were exploded after indirectly informing the Manipur police commandos that explosives might be planted somewhere between Yairipok Malom hills. The statement further continued that after getting information about the presence of explosives in the area, security forces have been searching the area since early morning for the explosives and even tried to use locals as “Human Shields”, it said.
