Imphal, April 10 : Governor Gurbhachan Jagat said in a message, “I convey my heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of “Sajibu Nongmapanba (Cheiraoba)” – Manipuri New Year’s Day, 2013.
Let this occasion be a harbinger of peace and harmony in the State. We have seen many incidents which could have broken the bond between different communities but people have maintained their sanity and violence has been avoided. On this Sajibu Nongmapanba, let us adopt new resolutions for a better Manipur for which all citizens should strive. We should rededicate ourselves to renew our bonds of friendship, so that we all can live as brothers and sisters, irrespective of caste, creed, language and religion. Let the occasion be celebrated in its true spirit and I pray that it will usher an era of peace and prosperity.
Chief Minister, O Ibobi said, “I greet the people of Manipur on the auspicious Nongma Panba Cheiraoba festival which falls on 11th Apriloccasion of Sajibu 2013.
Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba festival heralds the advent of the New Year and is celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety. The festival strengthens the bond of love and brotherhood among the members of each family in particular and among the fellow members in the neighbourhood in general. It also reminds us to live a clean and pure life.
Manipur in the celebration of Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba festival and hope and pray that the festival will bring joy, prosperity and peaceful coexistence among all the people of the State.
Major General UK Gurung, AVSM, YSM, IG AR (South) and All Ranks of Assam Rifles have extended warm greetings and sincere goodwill to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Meitei New Year Sajibu Cheiraoba. IGAR (South) prays that the festival heralds an era of peace, progress and prosperity in the region and enhances the spirit of unity, cohesiveness and brotherhood amongst the warm and friendly people of all the communities of the state of Manipur.
