27 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 28 Sector Assam Rifles and Headquarters IGAR (South) organised a Career Counselling Camp for the students of Borni Memorial English School, Pangaltabi, Dist Thoubal on 12 September 2013 as an initiative to fruitfully engage the youth for development in Manipur. The camp was organised with an endeavour to acquaint the students with the myriad of opportunities available to them after completing their schooling and the mode of entry into the Indian Army and the Assam Rifles. The event included a lecture cum presentation on career options in the Armed Forces, the various schemes to join Army / Assam Rifles and was attended by a total of 40 students and five teachers and the response was overwhelming with the young generation wanting to know about the various modes of entries into the Defence Forces. In another endeavour of helping the local populace, a medical camp was organised for the villagers of New Cannan Village, Dist Ukhrul by 16 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 10 Sector and HQ IGAR(S). A large number of people from all age groups were treated, given medicines and laboratory investigations were also provided. Post the medical camp, an interactive session was organised with the masses, where people were educated about HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, malaria, water-borne diseases, hygiene and sanitation
