Arts Society Manipur celebrates 42nd Foundation Day

IMPHAL, April 10: A drawing exhibition and the 42nd Foundation Day celebration of the Arts Society Manipur were held on Thursday at the Manipur State Art Gallery, Place Compound.

Arts & Culture and YAS Commissioner Dr RK Nimai was the chief guest while Director of Arts and Culture Dr K Sobita Devi graced the function as the guest of honour. Chairman of Arts Society Manipur Koolchandra M-them presided over the function.

After paying floral tributes to the photos of deceased artists, senior artists were honoured by the arts society with shawls and citations.

The artists thus honoured were Thoidingjam Tombi, Langoljam Shamu, Laishram Phunindro Singh and Aribam Chitreshwar Singh.

K Sobita said that different materials were used for the 47 paintings on display. The pictures reflected our society. They are not only aesthetically appealing but also exhibit the love and warmth in the state.

RK Nimai said that painting has changed within the last two-three years and if this growth still continues with some work hard it will bring development in the state.
