IMPHAL, June 15: Referring to the charges levelled against HDFC Imphal Branch by two customers over misconduct in sanctioning of loan , Branch Manager of the bank Surchand has said that the bank`™s Risk Department, which handles such crisis has initiated an internal inquiry against staff alleged of delaying loan sanction.

Addressing a press meet at HDFC Imphal Branch here today, Surchand assured that befitting action will be taken up against those bank staff accordingly if they are found guilty of wrongdoings

Mention may be made that two customers identified as Y Kangleingamba on behalf of K&T Service Station at Andro Parking and KETAWN Business Development Officer Yumnam Deepak in a press briefing on June 13 had alleged that Assistant Manager of HDFC Imphal Branch Eugene Nongmeikakpam delayed their proposal of loan amounting to Rs 1, 10, 00,000 and Rs 30, 00,000 respectively during the tenure of Momo Saka as the Branch Manager of HDFC Imphal Branch.

Eugene was also charged of not responding to queries of the two customers about the progress of sanctioning their loan amount despite repeated request made.

Kangleingamba had said he was convinced to apply for HDFC Life insurance amounting to Rs 3, 00,000 as half yearly premium by Eugene.

Surchand said that HDFC has five branches in the State, rendering financial service to the general public.

He expressed that miscommunication and misunderstandings may have triggered the situation.

The bank is considering sanctioning loan to KETAWN but unfortunately it has decided to reject the proposal for loan from K&T Service Station, he said.

He claimed that one of the loan applicants Y Kangleingamba is a defaulter according to Credit Information Bureau (India) Limited, SIBIL report and said that Kangleingamba was sanctioned a car loan of Rs 6,96,438 by Punya Motors on May 9.

He elaborated that to get CIBIL clearance; it takes at least six months time as it is a lengthy process involving RBI.

HDFC Bank is the only bank having paperless ten second loan facility, Surchand said, adding that there are customers from the states who have received such facility.

He added that HDFC bank not only deals in financial transactions but also participate in social upliftment services like financial consultations, rendering loans to aspiring entrepreneurs.

He also said that HDFC Imphal Branch has been awarded in recognition of achieving highest percentile in agriculture sector loan.

He then appealed to all concerned to directly contact him regarding any problem faced by customers in dealing with services of the bank.
