The end of the year, a chance where we can all reflect on the past 12 months, and when it comes to the world of rock music lovers, we also need to remember all the gigs that came out. Some good, some bad and few great, but the Friday Night Live of 22nd December 2017 seemed to make sense for the first time in Imphal city when Chumthang Entertainment gave birth to a new live music venture entitled ‘Live@MDU’ at the adorned MDU Hall, Yaiskul with a line-up featuring four amazing new acts from the city.

Painting competition organised

IMPHAL, Jan 2: Army organised a painting competition for school children at Lamdan in Bishnupur district on December 31. The aim of the event was to encourage the creative spirit amongst the children and infuse a taste for fine arts in them, said a press release from PIB Defence Wing.
The event witnessed a wide participation of people from over four villages. A total of 33 children of different age groups exhibited their creative talents in the competition.
The event culminated with prize distribution. Joshua Gangmei of Loyola School won the first prize in below 8 years category, while Babei Meiringmei of Loyola School stood first in the 8-14 years of age category and Lungnailu Maringmei emerged first in the 14 to 20 years category.
The locals expressed their appreciation towards Army for providing a stage to the young minds to showcase their beautiful art pieces, added the release.

IMPHAL, Jan 2: The first ever International conference on “Sustainable Development and North East India in the Globalised Era” concluded on December 30. The conference was rganised by Federation of Government College Teachers’ Associations (FEGOCTA) in partnership with DM College of Arts, GP Women’d College and Institute of Bioresources & Sustainable Development (IBSD).
Prof M Premjit, Vice-Chancellor of Central Agricultural University, Iroisemba; Dr Ch Sheelaramani, chairperson of the conference; L Randhoni, founder president of FEGOCTA; Dr A Pishak, president of FEGOCTA and Dr B Lalhari, principal of GP Women’s College attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Prof Shachi Nandeibam, University of Bath, UK delivered key note address at the occasion while Prof Amar Yumnam, Manipur University; Lwin Oo from Myanmar; Dr O Snea Lucy, University of Bath, UK and Dr Dorji Thinley, Royal University of Bhutan attended as the resource persons in the plenary session which was chaired by Prof N Mohendro.
