DIMAPUR, Sept 2 NNN: Even as situation continues to be highly charged in Dimapur, the NSCN-IM has cautions its cadres that if any one of them is found involving in the confrontation between the Angamis and the Semas, stern penalty on the violators of the outfit’s directive will be awarded.
NSCN-IM ‘home minister’ T.T Among directs all the outfit’s ranks and files to stay alert and watchful in this situation and warns the NSCN cadres not to use weapons of any kind overtly and covertly in support of one party or the other. Failing to observe this directive will certainly entail punitive action against the erring cadres.
The outfit’s ‘home minister’ then termed the disturbed situations ensued in Dimapur and surrounding areas arising out of some ugly incident at Kohima as very unfortunate. He opines that such isolated incident should have been settled through mutual talks or through legal course of action. But it has been blown out of proportion. However, T.T. Among appeals to both Semas and Angamis to exercise maximum restraints in the present volatile situation in the interest of the people in general and the Nation and also appeals to all Naga people to remain calm.
Further, Tongmeth Wangnao, co-convener of the NSCN-IM’s highest decision making body the Steering Committee (SC) and a leading member of the ‘Eastern Naga National Workers Union (ENNWU) member under Isak Chsi Swu and Th. Muivah appeals to both Semas and Angamis for restraint from confrontations. He said, “Our fore fathers were head hunters and had had no close contacts between the communities or tribes. But through Christianity and Naga Nationalism we have come closer to each other. Therefore this brotherly love and feeling of oneness should be properly maintained between communities or tribes”.

IMPHAL, Sept 2 MNS: The All Tribal Disables’ Union Manipur(ATDUM) has urged the state government of Manipur to set up a special school with hostel facilities for the physically challenged tribal people of Manipur at any convenient place.
The ATDUM reminded the state government of the earlier memorandum submitted to the Manipur education, Manipur on June 19 in this connection.
The ATDUM said that around 6000 tribal physically challenged persons are there in the hill districts of Manipur and that though these people wanted to go to school but due to their problems they are unable to fulfill their wish. The Union then alleged that the society too is an impediment because they discourage the handicapped persons from attending schools. To attend schools remains a dream for these physically challenged persons,” said the ATDUM.
There is only one school in Manipur which is situated at Takyelpat specially for blind, deaf and mute persons but other handicapped persons such as Locomotor Disabilities (LD) have no place in that school, said ATDUM and stressed for the need to establish a school where any nature of physically challenged persons can attend in it.
“Generally, the physically challenged persons have been discriminated by the general public in every field. The infrastructure provided in the normal schools are not suitable for the physically challenged persons. As per the Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation Act of 1995, there should be a special school for these physically challenged persons with a provision of free education till a person attains the age of 18 years,” said ATDUM.
“In view of the above facts and circumstances, it is therefore appealed to the concerned authority to kindly look into the matter seriously and make an appropriate order so as to construct a school building with hostel facilities in the interest of the tribal physically challenged.
