Delhi April 04: In a press release from its media coordinator Hem Chandra Brahma,\u00a0NEFIS has strongly condemned \u00a0Imphal Municipal Corporation\u2019s recent cleanliness drive\u00a0under which women street vendors were being\u00a0prevented to sell vegetables on the\u00a0footpath.<\/p>\n
It said “While the Imphal Municipal Corporation seems to be very worried about\u00a0the cleanliness of streets it is least worried about the women street vendors and their\u00a0families. Women Street vendors come from poor and marginalized section of society\u00a0and they are the source of income for their children. Such class biased drives run\u00a0by IMC are going to do serious damage to the families of street vendors”.<\/p>\n
NEFIS is a Delhi based organisation for building solidarity among the peoples\/nationalities of the ‘North-East’ and beyond.<\/p>\n
The statement further urged Imphal\u00a0Municipal Corporation to\u00a0immediately stop their inhuman action actions the poor street vendors, \u00a0if not NEFIS will use\u00a0democratic\u00a0means to wage struggle against \u00a0the oppressive measures.<\/p>\n\n
