IMPHAL, December 20: In protest against the murder of S Ibomcha and his son Geetchandra alias Yaiphu, different women bodies of Irilbung today organized sit-in-protest today at separate places and demanded the government to punish the responsible individuals or group at the earliest.<\/p>\n
The sit-in protests were held at Bamon Kamphu Mayai Leikai, Irilbung Panthoibi Keithel and Bamon Kampu Irom Leirak.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the 24 hour general strike imposed by locals of Irilbung and the JAC formed against the brutal killing of the father and the son has affected normal life in state.<\/p>\n
Main market areas in Imphal and surrounding areas remain closed and deserted,<\/p>\n
Most passenger vehicles also remained off from the roads. Inter-state and inter-district transportation were also greatly affected by the general strike.<\/p>\n
Attendance at most government departments of all districts remained almost nil. Business establishments were also greatly affected.<\/p>\n
However, there have been no reports of any major untoward incident during the strike which will end this midnight.<\/p>\n\n
