CHURACHANDPUR, January 22: In an election-related violence, a woman identified as Goungaihching, 43, wife of Khuptinlian of Gouchinkhup Veng, New Lamka was reportedly beaten black and blue at about 6.30 pm yesterday by a supporter of the Congress (I) candidate of Churachandpur assembly constituency.<\/p>\n
The victim, a daily wage earner, has reportedly been supporting the Trinamool Congress candidate of the same constituency.<\/p>\n
The Congress (I) supporter identified as Zenchingthang Tonsing physically assaulted her complaining that she was not supporting the party’s candidate, said eye witnesses.<\/p>\n
According to them, he hit her with the wooden arm of a bench on the left side of her face after which she temporarily lost sight of her left eye. She was rushed to the district hospital for administration of first aid.<\/p>\n
Much to the relief of near and dear ones her conditions have improved and she have been discharged from the hospital.<\/p>\n\n
