{"id":30323,"date":"2012-04-18T21:37:21","date_gmt":"2012-04-19T01:37:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/manipur-mail.com\/?p=7342"},"modified":"2012-04-18T21:37:21","modified_gmt":"2012-04-19T01:37:21","slug":"92nd-raising-day-of-5-assam-rifles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.manipur.org\/news\/2012\/04\/18\/92nd-raising-day-of-5-assam-rifles\/","title":{"rendered":"92ND raising day of 5 assam rifles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mail News Service<br \/>\nImphal, Apr 18: 5 Assam Rifles along with all its Officers, Junior Commissioned Officer\u2019s and Jawans celebrated its 92nd Raising Day on 18 April 2012.<br \/>\nThe Chief Guest for the Raising Day was Brigadier SK Sharma, Commander 59 Mountain Brigade. 5 Assam Rifles was raised on 10 Jun 1920 by Captain John Donald Oglivy from the First King George\u2019s Gorkha Rifles at Lokra, Assam. In 1962, during the Chinese invasion, the battalion fought gallantly while manning 20 outposts on the Indo &#8211; Tibet border.<br \/>\nThe battalion is deployed in Manipur since year 2006 both at Jiribam earlier and now at Maram. The Battalion ever since its inception, has been performing exceedingly well in all spheres of operations and sports. The unit is  carrying out numerous military civic actions with the aim of bringing development to the region as well as building a strong bond with the local population.
