IMPHAL | Nov 9<\/p>\n

Institute\u00a0 of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) which is under department of Biotechnology, government of India based in Manipur, Takyelpat today signed a historic MoU with Belgium based\u00a0 Vision on Technology (Vito) in various important fields.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A release said the MoU was based on climate change, environment, water management, biotechnology, bamboo refinery and bio-resources management etc. during a glittering ceremony held at Hotel Taj, New Delhi on the occasion of\u00a0 the state visit of the\u00a0 King and Queen of Belgium\u00a0 to India.<\/p>\n

The MoU was signed by Prof. Dinabandhu Sahoo, director of IBSD and Dr. Dirk Fransaer, managing director of Vito. The\u00a0 MoU was\u00a0 signed in presence of HE Didier Reynders, federal deputy Prime Minister and minister of foreign affairs and european affairs, HE Pieter De Crem, federal secretary of State for foreign trade, HE Rudi Vervoort, minister-president of the Brussels-Capital region as well as ambassador of Belgium to India, it said.<\/p>\n

In total only 16 MoUs were signed which include ADANI Group, CII, Pharmaceutical Industry, Bharat Electronics, government of Meghalaya, IIT Kanpur, IBSD etc. \u201cWe are very fortunate and lucky to be chosen as the only research based institute from the Northeast and the entire country to be part of this historic event. I am sure this MoU is very important for both the countries especially for the socio economic development of Northeast\u201d, said Prof Sahoo.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Indian resources and Belgium technologies we will be able to bring a lot of development at the grass root level and bring changes in the life of people\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

Prof. Sahoo who later met the visiting Belgian King Philippe is very happy to inform that things are rapidly changing in Northeast and soon many more developmental projects will be brought to the region, it said.<\/p>\n

The MoU is very important which is taking place in the year when both the nations are celebrating 70 years of diplomatic ties, is aimed at deepening the overall political and economic engagement between the two countries, added the release.<\/p>\n

Further it continued the royal couple was accompanied by six ministers and a high powered business delegation comprising of CEOs of about 90 Belgian companies, 13 heads of academic institutions and a 30-member media delegation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
