IMPHAL, Oct 10 NNN: The All Hill Districts\u2019 Education Guarantee Scheme (EGS\/SSA) Teachers\u2019 Union, Manipur (AHDEGSTUM) has threatened to launch intense agitations if the state government of Manipur fails to issue regularised order of upgrading teachers under the union to primary teachers level before October 30.
\nAddressing media persons at Tampha Hotel here today, Trimson Saka, president of AHDEGSTUM said altogether 717 teachers who had been recruited by the government under the scheme are teaching students in community halls and private houses as the government has failed to provide scools and other infrastructures while adding that the problem has further compounded following the government order of posting new recruited teachers at the said area.
\nSpelling out irregularities in the system, he said, \u201c The state Mission Authority under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan had appointed us as Education Guarantee Scheme Volunyeers Teachers in the year 2004-2005 with the promised that each teacher will receive honorarium of Rs 1000 per month and the centres will be upgraded to Primary Schools level. The government had already promised to address the grievances which we are suffering for the last ten years but nothing has been done so far. We feel like we have been cheated by making false promises \u201c.
\nStating that the State Mission Authority under SSA and the state government should be held responsible if any untoward incidents occur relating with the issue, the union further appealed to all the villages\/habitation chiefs\/chairmen and secretaries not to accept the joining report of the new posted primary teachers.<\/p>\n\n
