DIMAPUR, Oct 16 NNN: The NSCN-IM has strongly refuted to the news report of The Indian Express of Monday edition whereby it was stated that the government of India had secured a written commitment from the Isak-Muivah group of the NSCN that the latter outfit would accept the Indian Constitution.
\n\u201cThe NSCN is wondering how and where Mr.Pranab Dhal Samanta (The Indian Express reporter) got the idea that the government of India has secured a written commitment from the NSCN that it will accept the Indian Constitution,\u201d said the NSCN-IM press communique issued by the outfit\u2019s \u2018ministry of information and publicity\u2019 (MIP) today. \u201cIf the Naga people under the leadership of Isak-Muivah would like to accept the Indian Constitution, they would have accepted the Shillong Accord when it was signed. There would not have been political negotiations for such 15 long years,\u201d the Naga outfit reasons.
\n\u201cWhat Mr. Pranab Dhal Samanta said may be a surprise to the Government of India also, because the Government of India and the NSCN are negotiating seriously to arrive at an honorable settlement. Freedom of the press does not mean freedom to meddle with the work of other people,\u201d it fumes, while adding, \u201cPerhaps, in the final analysis, Mr.Pranab must be attempting to hijack the peace process to serve his personal interest. But nobody will be thankful to him for this kind of scheme. He should not make fool of himself,\u201d the NSCN-IM added.
