The ninth death anniversary of Meira Paibi leader Ima Komba was held at Khuyathong today.
\nIma (mother) Kombi was a pioneer who was also responsible for the strong Meira Paibi movement (women activism) in Manipur. (Meira Paibi literally means woman with a burning torch).
\nThounaojam Iboyaima, father of social worker, L.Memchoubi Devi,president, PLMPAM and P.Ibemnungsi, president, MEPWAK attended the function as chief guest, president and guest of honor respectively.
\nKT Rahaman, president, All Manipur Clubs\u2019 Organisation (AMUCO), Phulindro Konsam, social activist, a number of civil society leaders among others also attended the function. They paid floral tribute at the photo of the late meira paibi leader during the function.
\nPLMPAM was set up in the year 1985 and late Ima Kombi was the founder president of the women organization.
\nShe also played a great role in different women organizations in the state prior to the formation of PLMPAM. Ima Kombi died on February 1, 2004.<\/p>\n\n
