IMPHAL, Dec 14: The UPPK has clarified that the two persons arrested by state police from Moirangkhom area on December 11 last along with hand grenades have no connection with the group or the KP Army as claimed by the police.

The SP of Imphal West District Police had claimed that the two arrested persons, Moirangthem Kalachand alias Biren from Wangjing Tentha Khunjao and at present residing at Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi and Khumukcham Bishworjit alias Nanao from Moirangkhom , were active members of UPPK and five Chinese hand grenades along with detonators were recovered from them.

In a press release issued by the secretary-in-charge, Khuman Laishramcha today, the United People’s Party of Kangleipak stated that following the signing of Memorandum of Understanding with the government, it has not participated in anything unlawful or activities deemed unacceptable by the people, while ruling out involvement in the future too. It asserted that the outfit or the KP Army will not take responsibility for the transgression committed by its cadres henceforth.

Further, the UPPK has issued a notice to its cadres who had left the designated camp on leave to report back to the camp by coming December 31. The party and its armed wing will sever all connections with those members of the KP Army who failed to return by that date. The party further urged elders of their households to send or escort them to the designated camp.
