IMPHAL, December 5: The BJP Schedule Tribe Morcha Manipur Pradesh organised an advent Christmas celebration at the Nagaram residence of former minister Danny Shaiza today.

Speaking at the function, the State unit president of the party, Th Chaoba said the party is trying to bring development in the hills of the State for which it is trying to build a strong base in the hills.

He said the party will organised the Christmas in the hills next year.

The party is fully prepared for the upcoming ADC election and declared that once the party win the ADC election it will bring the desired development in the hills which has been long neglected, he said.

The BJP under its schedule tribe morcha will look into the necessities of the interior parts of the State which the present government is unable to even reach, Chaoba claimed.

He said conditions of roads in every district headquarters in the hills are in deplorable conditions for the past more than 10 years and that the State has never taken up anything for the people of the hills.

The State cannot be counted as a develop State as long as there is development imbalance between the hills and the valley, Chaoba said.

The party may face a difficult task in filling up the lack of development in the hills which has been created under the present State government during the last 13 years, however, a collective effort by the volunteers of the State from both the hills and the valley will certainly bring a new face to the hills of the State, he said.

Nagaland body resents Rani Gaidinliu hall in Kohima

DIMAPUR, December 5 (NNN): Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has expressed its strong resentment to the building of Rani Gaidinliu Memrial Hall in Kohima by Nagaland government saying there was no contribution of the leader to the people of Nagaland. The building is completed now.

NTC is formed by the original 16 Naga tribes of Nagaland.

In a statement issued today, the NTC questioned, “What were considered being the contributions of Gaidinliu to the cause of Naga national movement or the movement of Nagaland Statehood?” According to the NTC, she became popular in her Rongmei community to succeed Haipou Jadonang as the new cult leader. She resisted the invasion of East India Company of Britain not because of political aspiration but because of her religious assertion. She faced challenges from conversion of her followers to Christianity which she found to be a threat to her cult. The kind of culture to her cult is alien to animism not to speak of Christianity, the NTC added.

The NTC then said the state government of Nagaland with 60 MLAs from Nagaland state has given much priority to keep the memory of Gaidinliu by building a Memorial Hall at Kohima at the cost of state`™s exchequer.

It said during the last 51 years of Statehood, Nagaland has not honored any son of the soil by installing even a bust of individual not to speak of that magnitude of memorial building costing more than Rs. 9 crores in the State capital.

Such tribute to be paid to any leader of the State should be a person of extra ordinary eminence whose sacrifices for fellow Nagas of Nagaland were extraordinary and cannot be matched, it said.

Whereas, there are much more deserving indigenous leaders of both Naga national movement and Naga People`™s Convention (NPC) whose contributions gave birth to the Statehood. “Therefore, there is absolutely no justification for the state government of Nagaland to give such recognition to Gaidinliu over a host of genuine bona-fide pioneers of modern Nagaland. While giving such recognition to a non indigenous person, the State has done injustice to the leaders of the State,” the Council said.

According to the NTC, Heraka followers demanding huge size metal statue of Gaidinliu to be installed at Dimapur Airport naming after her, installation of the same statue in front of the Museum at Kohima, placing the portrait of the Cult leader inside the Assembly Hall of NLA etc. are disgusting and highly provoking.

The Heraka followers are taking all unthinkable advantages now because of the Nagaland government giving recognition to Rongmei as a tribe in Nagaland, the statement of the NTC added.

“Under no circumstances, the NTC will allow Nagaland to be converted into a launching pad for such cult as Heraka or alien culture of Idol worship,” it asserted. The Nagas at no point of time were ruled by any Raja/Rani or idolized any hero and worship, the note further said.

The NTC cautions its citizens that a kind of persecution of not physical but of psychological in nature is being intensively inflicted upon our faith knowing the greed for power and fragility of our people over money. “This is a challenge to the citizens to remain united, resist the temptations and overcome the onslaught through prayers and action,” the NTC stated.

HCBAM seeks appointment of more judges to expedite justice delivery system

IMPHAL, December 5: Other than the many pending cases in the High Court of Manipur, the delivery of justice has taken more than 20 years in some cases. In such

IMPHAL, December 5: Other than the many pending cases in the High Court of Manipur, the delivery of justice has taken more than 20 years in some cases. In such a scenario, it is necessary to appoint the required judges to ensure speedy delivery of justice, said High Court Bar Association of Manipur senior executive member senior advocate N Kumarjit today.

He was appealing to the concerned authorities to appoint the needed judges during a press conference held at the HCBAM conference hall inside the High Court of Manipur compound.

He said since Manipur achieved Statehood on January 21, 1972, it was requisite for the State to have a separate High Court under the provisions of the Constitution of India which was not fulfilled for long. A separate High Court of the State was set up only in 2013 which was inaugurated on March 25, 2013, he said.

Since the setting up of the High Court of Manipur, demands have been made to appoint at least five out of the minimum seven judges necessary he continued.

The senior advocate said the Chief Minister had supported the demand of the HCBAM and had even accompanied a delegation to place the demand before the previous Union Law Minister during which the Centre had assured three judges for the High Court of Manipur.

However, after much cajoling from the State government and the HCBAM, the Centre had decided that the number of judges for the court would be five and to appoint four judges first and appoint the fifth after some six months, he said lamenting that the assurance is yet to be turned into action.

On November 26, 2014, the number of judges of the High Court was increased to three from just two and now it is time for the government to appoint the remaining judges as was assured earlier he said.

At the same time, there are only around 30 courts in the State, whereas Nagaland and Mizoam have more than 100 courts, although Manipur has a higher population than the two States, the senior advocate continued.

He said the association had also submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister during his recent visit to the State capital for the closing function of Sangai Festival to appoint the needed judges and set up more subordinate courts in the sub-divisions.

Today`™s press meet was also attended by HCBAM president L Shyamkishwor Singh and other members.
