AMMUCO lauds CM for positive response

The chief minister of the state, N. Biren Singh today agreed to the six out of nine points that were included in the memorandum submitted by All Manipur Muslim United Club Organisation (AMMUCO).

The general secretary of AMMUCO, Md Abdul Quayum said the agitations that were scheduled to start from December 21, have been lifted as per the positive response given by the chief minister.

This was expressed in a press meet held today at Usoipokpi. He further said they went to meet the chief minister at the CM Bungalow after he expressed his wish to meet them. The representative of AMMUCO talked with the CM for more than an hour afterwards. 

The chief minster then agreed to the six points included in the memorandum and assured that they will be turned into actions soon. As for the remaining three points of the memorandum, the CM assured that they will be addressed sometime in the future. 

The organisation expressed their profound gratitude and lauded the CM for his gesture.

The six points that were addressed by the chief minister today was 1) Construction of Musafir Khana 2) To include post graduate classes at Lilong Haoreibi College 3) Construction of a monument for the Manipuri Muslims mothers who took part in the Nupi Lal 4) To include programmes for Manipuri Muslims in the daily broadcasts of AIR and DDK 5) To make WAQF board function properly and 5) to keep a place for Manipuri Muslims at the Culture University.

The organisation has further appealed that a cultural troop should be created to find out what programmes can be included in the cultural university before the fifth point is implemented. 

 A call was made by the CM to commissioner and requested for taking up investigations regarding the prevalent issues of Lilong Haoreibi College regarding the use of developmental funds provided by the government for the college.

As for the reservation of Manipuri Muslims, the CM said the matter requires detail analysis as he had been holding the post only for the past six months.
