Jiribam to Imphal bus service resumes

After ceasing its services for a long time, the bus service from Jiribam to Imphal had been flagged of today by a team made of DC, Jiribam, IAS, Robert Kshetrimayum, ADC, Jiribam, MCS, A. Shivadas Sharme, SP, MPS Jiribam M. Mubi Singh and E.O Jiribam Municipal Council, MMAS, M.Rajen Singh. This was held in continuation of resuming the bus services from Imphal to Jiribam yesterday.

The occasion was attended by DC, Jiribam, IAS, Robert Kshetrimayum, ADC, Jiribam, MCS, A. Shivadas Sharme, SP, MPS Jiribam M. Mubi Singh and E.O Jiribam Municipal Council, MMAS, M. Rajen Singh as presidium members. 

Robert Kshetrimayum said it was saddening to watch all sorts of vehicles travelling to Imphal. The citizens travelling by cruiser with difficulties is disheartening but the people had no one to blame. The bus services from Jiri to Imphal came to halt due to bad roadways. However, with the coming of the new state government, the roadways are somewhat improved, he added.

He lauded Imphal-Silchar Road Bus Owners’ Welfare Union and United Bus Owners’ Welfare Association for their efforts to improve roadway connectivity not only at Jiribam but all over Manipur.     

 Shivadas said the people of Jiribam who had forgotten the experiences of riding a bus can now enjoy riding them from today thanks to the combined efforts of Imphal-Silchar Road Bus Owners’ Welfare Union and United Bus Owners’ Welfare Association. There will be four buses from Jiribam and another four from Jiribam, making a total of eight buses that will be start plying down towards these two destinations.

The buses will depart from 7, 8, 9, and 10 am in the morning for the convenience of the public, he added.

Mubi Singh said the drivers of these buses must consider the travellers as their own family members and perform their jobs with the responsibility to take care of them and lead towards their destinations. M.Rajen Singh thanked the government for granting Imphal-Silchar Road Bus Owners’ Welfare Union and United Bus Owners’ Welfare Association to take up the work for resuming the bus services.
