IMPHAL, March 1: In the wake of the unabated agitations of various government teachers in connection with the rectification of pay structure, the Joint Administrative Council (JAC), All Manipur Trade Unions Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees Organization (AMGEO) has also threaten to resume its indefinite cease work strike if the government fail to fully execute the demands of the JAC as per the memorandum of understanding (MoUs) signed in 2010 between the government and the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO.

A memorandum has been submitted to the Chief Minister of Manipur in this regards as a reminder.

The memorandum recalled that after launching a long agitation in the form of cease work strike, two MoUs had been made and signed with the first MoU signed between the government and Manipur Secretariat Services Association (MSSA) while the second was signed between the government and the JAC AMTUC and AMGEO and COTA on May 14, 2010 and May 19, 2010 respectively.

It claimed, though there had been a gap of more than nine months from the dates of agreements, the progress of execution of MoU is not satisfactory adding most of the main demands which included implementation of 6th Central Pay in toto, rectification of pay anomalies, regularisation of adhoc, casual, muster roll and work charged employees and restoration of die-in-harness scheme etc were not fully executed except for some modification and imitated components of 6th Central pay.

The decision to issue the ultimatum was resolved in its resolutions number 3, of the general body meeting of all Employees, Workers and Pensioners held on February 24, 2011 at Kalimai Mandap, Imphal. It said that the cease work strike will resume after a lapse of 10 days from the date of submission of the ultimatum unless the government start executing the provisions of the MoUs before the end of the stipulated time.

It further requested the government to take up appropriate actions on or before March 9.

The JAC also informed that the cease work strike would only be relaxed for employees and workers directly involved in the sitting of Assembly sessions in the larger interest of the public.

NEW DELHI, March 1 :Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, Assam and West Bengal will go to polls in April and May in the biggest popularity contest since the 2009 Lok Sabha election, it was announced on Tuesday.

Chief Election Commissioner S.Y. Quraishi said some 150 million voters will be eligible to take part in the elections that will begin April 4 and conclude May 10.

The vote count will take place May 13, Quraishi told reporters at his office. While Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry will have a single phase polling on April 13, Assam will see balloting on April 4 and 11.

Polling in West Bengal will be spread over six phases — April 18, 23 and 27 and May 3, 7 and 10.

The April-May battle will dominantly involve the Left, the Congress and regional parties like the Trinamool Congress, the Asom Gana Parishad, the DMK and the AIADMK.

One of the keenest contests is expected in West Bengal, where the Left Front led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), which has been in power since 1977, faces its most serious challenge.

The Left Front`s biggest threat comes from the Trinamool Congress of Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee who has vowed to unseat the Marxists and form a government.

In Kerala, the coalitions led by the Left and Congress will take on each other. The ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu will lead its alliance against a resurgent AIADMK.
