Imphal, April 19 : During the general strike and chakha band called by JAC and driver union, about 25 vehicles coming on Imphal Dimapur road were damaged in between Senapati and Sapermeina. In the incident four handymen received injuries. At Tadubi, two wingers were damaged. Meanwhile Indo Burma Sugnu road drivers and motor workers co-operative society ltd. Condemned the killing of an innocent driver and burning dawn of two loaded trucks on Imphal-Jiribam road.
The soeity urged the state govt. to extend compensation to the victim’s family.
A two minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
The Shiv Sena, Manipur state strongly condemned the incident in which a truck driver, Sorokhaibam Babu (45) of shamurou was killed on Imphal Jiribam road on April 17.
The party shared the sorrows of the bereaved family.
The NSCN-K, Southern Zone while strongly condemning the truck driver murder incident along the NH-37 in Manipur, has vowed to unearth the identities of those responsible persons or outfit for the killing.
S. Babu, a truck driver was killed along the NH-37 on the night of April 17. As a mark of protest 48 hours Manipur bandh is underway called by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the killing of the driver.
Johnson who is incharge of publicity of the NSCN-K, Southern Zone informed Newmai News Network that the outfit has started investigating the incident.
“This was the incident attempted to create bad blood between the people of the hills and the valley of Manipur but their evil design will never succeed,” said the NSCN-K, Southern Zone leader. He also said that any such communal strategy has no place and “we will see that such attempts are thwarted with maturity.” Johnson then said killing a driver who is striving a livelihood for his family is inhumane and a matter of pity. “Revolutionaries should go much, much higher than killing a poor driver or extorting from the poor transporters,” added the NSCN-K leader.
The NSCN-K, Southern Zone then appeals the general public to remain calm and not to take law into their hands. “We assure you that those persons responsible for the killing of S Babu be identified and initiate action against them accordingly,” Johnson assured.
The NSCN-K, Southern Zone then condoles the sorrow striken family members of S Babu and shares their pains at this moment.
