Cordon and search

As a pre-emptive exercise in the run up to the Nation’s Independence Day, Churachandpur police headed by Additional SP L Khongsai conducted a cordon and search operation at Khuga Tampak area from 4 am and detained at least 16 people for further verification.
About 300 people were verified during the search operation that lasted for about two hours with 16 being taken to the police station for further verification as they could not produce any document to show their identity, police sources said.

THOUBAL, Jul 27: Thoubal College staff, non teaching staff and students provided flood relief materials to the people affected by flood who are taking refuge the relief camps at Thoubal Leishangthem Khong Manung.
Speaking to media persons, Thoubal College principal O Chaoba Devi pointed out that the College has taken up the initiative to ease the suffering of the people affected by flood.
15 Kgs (30 bags) of rice, 300 kgs of dal, 300 bottles of edible oil and 300 packets of salt were distributed to the people through the local clubs.

Churachandpur: A tree plantation drive, involving all the district level officers of Churachandpur, was conducted today at the Mini-Secretariat premises, under the initiative of the local administration and the State Forest Department.
The plantation drive, led by DC, Churachandpur, Shyam Lal Poonia, SP, Rakesh Balwal and DFO, Mung Tombing, was carried out in response to the State Government’s call for a Green Manipur.
Numerous officials from various Departments, several CSO leaders also participated in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Shyam Lal Poonia stressed on the need to indulge in serious step toward planting trees and preserving the existing forest cover to maintain ecological balance for a sustainable future.
He also appealed to all stake holders to come forward and help in achieving the goal of a Green Manipur.
