Heart camp held at Katomei

IMPHAL | Sept 29

On the observance of World Heart Day, a one-day free heart camp was held at Mount Carmel School, Katomei, Senapati district today.

The medical camp was organised by SKY Group of Hospitals in association with Manipur Heart Foundation, Mount Carmel School and Newmai Janwangbou Trust.

Chairman and chief cardiologist of SKY Group of Hospitals, Dr.L.Shyamkishore said that during the camp, OPD, high BP detection, diabetes test, ECG, medicine required were given and done free of cost. He said that this camp is part of SKY’s mission to eliminate heart diseases in the state and have also been organising such camps in the past. Churachanpur, Tamenglong, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Imphal East, and now Senapati have been covered and more camp will be followed, he added.

Official reports submitted by the PRO, Roni said that a total number of 182 patients took the advantage of the free medical camp and out of which 39 were given free ECG test and 35 were given free blood sugar test. She also said that one patient will be admitted to SKY hospital at RIMS road tomorrow and will be given free treatment.  Two patients will be also given free pacemaker (a device to control abnormal heart rhythms). 

A 55 year old woman of the district was one of the 182 patients who came to check up her chest and breathing problem. She said that she has gone to other hospitals for her breathing problem but has not completely healed till now.

After the check-up, a formal Heart day observance function was held. The function was attended by CMO of Senapati, Dr.H.Loli Mao, president of Naga People’s Organisation, Kamba Moses and chairman of SKY, Dr.L.Shyamkishore attended the function as presidium members.

Dr. Loli said that there is no heart specialist in the district and that there are people who want to go Imphal for treatment but has no money. “We the people of Senapati are fortunate to get such kind of opportunity,” he said.
