Locals of the Soibam Leikai Meri Leirak, Imphal East today blocked the Meri Leirak as the government has not taken up any initiative to black top the road.
Speaking to media persons, Yaipha Thoujil Lup publicity secretary, Ch. Loyangamba said since the last one year the road has been in a pathetic condition and people of the locality have faced lots of health problems due to dust pollution.
Frequent complaint has been made to the authority concerned by the local club but the government has not taken up any initiative to repair the road, he added.
On the other hand the government is repairing some important road which are already in good condition for the sake of the upcoming Sangai Festival, as the President of India is to travel through those road, added the public secretary.
He warned to take up certain agitation if the government fails to take up proper action in time to repair the road.
