IMPHAL, April 27: SAIRC(A) took the title in the double boys Regu event in the 14th sub-junior boys and girls state Sepak Takraw championship being held at YAWA ground, Singjamei.
In the double boys regu final played today SAIRC(A) beat YAWA by 2-0 (21-11, 21-15).
In the Regu event, the boys final will played between SAIRC(A) and SWC(C) tomorrow while in the girls final LKYDA will play SWC.

IMPHAL, May 4: All Manipur Football Association is to conduct a selection competition at the earliest to select one club for participation in the Manchester United Tournament to be held from May 16 at Pune, Maharastra. The tournament to be organised by the AIFF is open for players born on or after January, 1, 1996.

AMFA inform interested Clubs (affiliated units of the DSAs/DFAs) to send their entry along with a fee of Rs 1000 latest by May 7 with recommendation of the concern DSA/DFA.

IMPHAL, May 17: The Swimming Federation of India has selected N Debeshwor Singh, swimming and diving coach of the SAI, SAG Centre, Imphal to participate in the Federation Internationale De Natation (FINA) Diving Judges Certificate Course to be held at Seremban, Malasia from May 20 to 24.

A release of the Manipur Swimming Association, while informing this said Debeshwor is the first swimming coach from Manipur to attend the FINA Diving Judges Certificate Course held outside India.

He will be leaving Imphal on May for the said course, the MSA release said.

IMPHAL, June 3: Manipur lifted the trophy in both the boys and girls (team event) of the 14th sub-junior national Sepak Takraw championship being held at Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

In the sub-junior boys final (team) played this morning, Manipur defeated Delhi, 2-0 with the scoreline 14-12, 21-9, 15-11/21-15, 21-11.

In the girls final, Manipur beat Andhra Pradesh in 2-1 sets with the score of 19-21, 8-21/21-12, 21-8/21-10, 21-19.

In Regu even of the championship, Manipur girls has reached the quarter final. In the matches played today, Manipur girls (Regu) defeated Kerala by 2-0 and also Rajasthan 2-0.

IMPHAL, June 12: PJPC Pukhao has lifted the 1st NIVSO Cup, Khundrakpam kendra level football tournament.

In the final played today PJPC defeated SDC Tiger Camp by 6-0.

PJPC controlled the match right from the start of the match.

Kh Prasanta opened goal account for PJPC in the 1st minute itself while Itocha added another goal in the 25th minute while Th Dinesh scored third goal for the team in the 32nd minute. S Devabrata scored fourth goal for the team in the 45th minute to lead 4-0 at half time.

In the second half too, PJPC took complete control of the match thereby ending any hope for SDC to reduce the goal not to think of equalising.

Kh Prasanta scored his second goal of the match in the 50th minute to put PJPC 5-0 ahead. Four minutes later, Th Dinesh too scored his second goal of the final match to took PJPC 6-0, which eventually remain final score.

The prize distribution function which was held after the final match was among others attended by Bijoy Koijam, deputy chairmen of the Manipur State Planning Board and Th Lokeshwor, deputy Speaker of the Manipur Lagislative Assembly. Bijoy Koijam donated Rs 10,000 to the organising committee while Th Lokeshwor who is also local MLA donated Rs 20,000.

IMPHAL, June 20: The Manipur Mountaineering and Tracking Association, MMTA has felicitated Arunchalese mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa, who summit Mt Everest twice during a span of 10 days very recently.

MMTA organised a felicitation function at its office premise today for the three membered Team Arunchal Mount Everest Expedition – 2011 which successfuly scaled the world’s highest peak on May 12 and May 21 this year.

Two other members of the Team Arunachal Mt. Everest Expedition-2011 were Miss Tine Mena of Arunchal Pradesh and Dr K Romeo Meetei of Kakwa Bazar, Imphal, Manipur.

Twice summiteer of the world’s highest peak, Anshu Jamsenpa aged 32 years is a mother of two children and she is presently settled at Bomdila, West Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh.

Having completed Adventure Course from MMTA Manipur with grading ‘A’ in 2009, Anshu Jamsenpa did her basic Mountaineering Course from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), Uttarkashi in 2009. She also completed Advance Course from Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling in 2010 and also Guest Instructor Course from the same institute.

She was also summiteer of North East Pre Everest Expedition at Nepal Peak under MMTA, Manipur in 2010.

IMPHAL, July 6: The Manipur Amateur Muaythai Council is conducting a trial cum selection of Muaythai players to represent Manipur at the 11th IFMA India national Muaythai championship to be held from August 5 to 7 at Hydrabad, Andhra Pradesh.

A release of the Manipur Amateur Muaythai Council said the trial cum selection will be held on July 9 and 10 to select sub-junior, junior and senior team for the state in both men and women category.

It further said players selected at the national championship will be eligible to take part in the IFMA World Muaythai championship which is to be held from September 20 to 27 at Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

IMPHAL, July 10: The Manipur Amateur Muaythai Council has named players who are to take part in the 11IFMA India National Muaythai Championship to be held at Hydrabad, Andhra Pradesh from August 5 to 7. 

Players selected in the sub-junior category are N Rahul, N Open, Laishram Bidyachandra, Golmei Nanao Kabui, T Loyangamba and Shamjetsabam Jims while those selected for the junior (male) category are Golmei Marempu Kabui, S Bobocha, H Chitaranjan, A Tondonba and I Chakhangamba.

Naorem Boynao will be lone competitor in the senior section while Jayaluxmi Yumnam will also take part in the women Thai Boxing competition.

IMPHAL, Sept 18: FLAM became the champion of 1st Ng Shamu Veteran Football Tournament after defeating FWVA by 3-1 in the final match held today at Megha High School, Malom.

The goals of FLAM were scored by Md Azizul, Joy Kabui and W Khogen while Ibotombi scored the solitary goal for FWVA.

The champion FLAM bagged Rs 25, 000 as the cash prize along with donations of Rs 3000 each from Minister Jayenta and MLA Dr Loken.
