Dimapur, July 30 NNN: The NSCN faction led by S.S.Khaplang will not accept anything that is less than ‘Naga Sovereignty’ with regard to any possible settlement brought about by parties involved in the dialogue with the government of India.
This ‘official declaration’ of the NSCN-K comes amid ever rising speculations on the possible inking of agreement soon between the NSCN led by Isak Chisi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah with New Delhi.
The ‘ official declaration’ signed by chairman of the NSCN-K S.S.Khaplang which was made available to Newmai News Network by the outfit’s publicity secretary Sangso Mongzar this evening said,” With regard to the possible political solution within the Indian Constitution, the NSCN/GPRN (NSCN-K) will reject it unless it is a sovereignty of the Nagas.”
Meanwhile, terming the Indian elections as “forced Indian elections” (on the Nagas), the NSCN-K said those elections are nothing to do with the Nagas’ struggle for sovereignty.
And cautioning those concerned elements in connection with the next Nagaland assembly election, the NSCN-K in its ‘official declaration’ said that if any cadre of its outfit is found involving in the said election the outfit’s authority will penalise him or her according to the outfit’s laws and rules laid down in its yezhabo (constitution).
“The NSCN/GPRN under the leadership of S.S. Khaplang hereby issues that, it will not involve in the forced Indian election in the so called Nagaland state to be held in the year 2013,” the NSCN-K declaration said.
“That, the Indian election has nothing to do with the Nagas’ struggle for sovereignty. The Naga Nation had held its Plebiscite in 1951 with 99% voted for sovereignty and thereafter, rejected the first Indian election of 1952,” said the ‘official declaration’ of the NSCN-K.

Imphal, July 30 NNN : Demand for release of Irungbam Irabanta, who has been allegedly abducted by NSCN-IM, unabated with the Joint Action Committee ( JAC) constituted in connection with his disappearance submitting a memorandum to state Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh on Monday even as the JAC tried to organize a protest rally in the street.
However, police thwarted the protesting JAC members from further advancing the rally near Sanjenthong. The police later allowed three JAC members to submit a memorandum to the state Chief Minister urging him to secure Irabanta’s release.
Many members from various civil societies, including All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO), Poirei Leimarol Apunba Meira Paibi Lup and other civil bodies based in Nongdam area were present at Monday’s demonstration.
The memorandum stated that Irungbam Irabanta, 38, son of late I Kerani of Nongdam Maning Leikai under Lamlai
Police Station, Imphal West has gone missing since May 27 after he left home along with one Winner , hailing from Ukhrul’s Harpham to have negotiation with NSCN-IM functionaries over the supply work of Maphou Dam.
It had been confirmed that Irabanta was at the region office of the rebel NSCN-IM on the morning of May 28 based on an SMS received, the memorandum mentioned. The mobile phone of Irabanta remained in switch off mode when his family tried to call him and that the person identified as Winner also failed to response on his phone when making several calls by the family.
On May 30, brother and brother-in-law of Irabanta, namely I Devata and S Guna went to Ukhrul pursuing his way but Winner’s wife had told them that her husband was staying at New Salem and not at home. Then they were desperate and returned home.
After five days, some family members, including Irabanta’s wife, Modhubala had visited Ukhrul but bore no fruit, the memorandum added. The family also pleaded with some Tangkhul civil organizations to help trace Irabanta.
They had also approached to the Region Office of NSCN-IM and brought up the matter before the latter’s Central Administrative Officer ( CAO ), Francis but this time also the effort came out to be fruitless. However, some cadres among the outfit showing compassion on them had divulged the fact that Irabanta was being kidnapped by the rebel, the memorandum further added.
Missing reports were also lodged with Lamlai Police Station and Ukhrul Police Station at the same time and that a Joint Action Committee was formed comprising of members of several local meira paibis, village authority, club and other civil organisations.
On July 17, a public meeting was organized at Nongdam Community Hall where various NGOs were also took part and later a general strike was also imposed on July 21-22 to protest the abduction of Irabanta.
At the meeting, the JAC had condemned the state government for not taking seriously over the disappearance of Irabanta and also, it demanded the government to arrest Winner, Francis and Leisi involved in the kidnapping of Irabanta.
The JAC in the memorandum also urges the government to fulfill its demands within five days else it will take up various forms of agitation.

Some inventions are spectacular. More so when it is done by the son of the soil. A stove created by a young lad from Singjamei has become the talk of the town for it will wipe out problems caused by gas scarcity in Manipur. The stove emits no smoke. Seeing the burning of the stove emitting bluish flame that comes out of the small holes is a treat to the eyes. A local woman said she had to prepare tea several times when she demonstrated how the stove burnt to the onlookers who came to see it on hearing about the new stove. She wants everybody to use this wonderful stove. Now everyone has liked it. As the demand has increased manifold at least 20 workers are engaged by the inventor to manufacture the items. Demand is continuing to rise. The rounded stove with a small fan attached at the bottom emits blue flame like the gas stove. Fuel is available free. The husk of paddy thrown out by the rice mills is used as fuel. Lighting the stove is as easy pressing the button of igniters. Users say one remains on toe once the stove had been ignited. Water in the pot boils quickly faster than expected. They say they keep all the items to be used in the preparation of curries ready before lighting the stove so that they can keep at the same pace with the speed of the fire. The users say they are no longer worried about gas scarcity. Refilled gas cylinder is not available easily and the little few available is unaffordable. Rs 1500 per cylinder. The main concern however is the cost price of the stove. It is now sold at Rs 3500 a piece. Here arises the question what the Government can do to make the item cheaper. In the same manner the Government subsidising the prices of fertilizers to rescue the poor farmers the concerned department of the Government of Manipur can think of extending some help to the manufacturer so that the price of the stove will come down at the affordable level of the poor men. The new invention will wipe out problems of gas scarcity in Manipur. Gas scarcity will cease to be a problem. Forest wealth too will be protected if the entire household uses the new stove. Dependence on fire wood as source of light causes destruction of forest wealth. Newly married daughter pesters parents at home when gas had finished. Understanding all these problems newly married women have shown propensity to own the husk stove instead of glittering stove that does not emit light. If one is enterprising and innovative the ash of husk can be used in making bricks. Nothing is wasted. Something that would have filled nullahs and rivers has been used in burning. The users had known the wonderful task done by the new invention. Those who have not tested it should feel the need for owning one. Get one collected.
