IMPHAL, Jun 22: Post the devastating “Cyclone Mora” which wreaked havoc in Khengjoi Sub-Division of Chandel dist during the first week of June, 4 Assam Regiment of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) provided relief to the affected locals by undertaking small but meaningful rehabilitation work for them.

Teachers’ hunger strike completes 2 days

IMPHAL, Jun 22: The hunger strike launched by teachers under the auspices of All Manipur Elementary School Teacher’s Association demanding services regularisation and release of 10 months’ pending salary completed its second day today at Khoyathong Pukhri Achouba Maning. According to the teachers, the agitation was launched to protest non-issue of regularisation order even after the State Cabinet’s discussion for the regularisation of 1786 teachers who already got requisite qualification scale. The teachers have also protested the reported non-release of 10 months’ pending salary.

NCC cadets observe

IMPHAL, Jun 22: In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to instill the habit of fitness and health in every individual, NCC Group HQ, Imphal and its affiliated units organized International Yoga day on June 21. More than 3,500 NCC cadets from 101 schools/colleges did yoga in 19 venues spread all over Manipur State between 7 am and 7.35 am, informed a release issued by the PIB, Defence, Imphal.
Meanwhile, over 700 people mainly students and villagers joined the 26 AR personnel stationed at Singngat sub-divisional headquarters in celebrating the 3rd International Yoga Day at the Battalion’s hqtrs. The event was organised by 26 AR under the aegis of HQ 27 Sector AR.

Financial aid

Churachandpur: To uplift and support the downtrodden and underprivileged families of Manipur, the State Government extended financial aid of Rs 2 lakh to the family of the 19th position holder of HSLC examination, Johnson L Khongsai yesterday. The Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur Shyamlal Poonia handed the money to Johnson’s mother Themchin Khongsai.

Field day

Churachandpur: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Churachandpur, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region organised a “Field Day on Chilli” at Sahenjang village today.
The function was graced by chief of Sahenjang village S Doungel, SMS Horticulture, KVK, Churachandpur Dr RK Roshan, farm manager L Basil as dignitaries.
The objective of the programme is to popularise the cultivation of local chilli or “Meitei Morok”. Altogether 20 farmers from Sahenjang and its neighbouring village attended the programme.
