Imphal, Oct 11 : 17 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQIGAR(South) organised a seminar on “Challenges and Concerns in Nurturing Youth : The Drivers of Change” at Ukhrul on 11 Oct 2012. Brig A K Pandey, Commander 10 Sector graced the occasion as chief guest.
Various distinguished speakers viz Chief Justice (Retd) WA Shishak, Mr Tennyson, executive Director VVD, Dr Mingthing, Director TTA etc. spoke on the subject, whereby empowerment of the youth to gain the ability, authority and agency to make decisions and implement change in their own lives and the lives of other people was discussed. Nurturing youth is a gateway to intergenerational equity, civic engagement and democracy building. The belief that the future depends on the strength, vitality and heart of the youth who are the driving force and who can form the pathway towards a better tomorrow was the overall theme.
The seminar concluded with remarks and presentation of honorariums to the eminent speakers by Commander 10 Sector AR. 17 Assam Rifles also conducted a medical and dental check up for the residents of Ukhrul attending the seminar .
