IMPHAL, May 19: One cadre of NSCN (K) was apprehended on NH 37 between Khongsang and Rangpang Villige while he was moving in a Bolero vehicle yesterday. Troops of 13 Assam Rifles have been monitoring the activities of the group in Tamenglong District since the last six days which finally led to the apprehension of SS 2nd Lieutenant Gaising Maringmei of NSCN (K), a PIB release said.

It added that on getting specific information regarding movement of cadre on NH-37, an operation was launched from the Assam Rifles post at Khongsang under the aegis of Red Shield Division and resulted in the  said cadre who is active in Tamenglong District being apprehended.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ng Bijoy Singh, MLA of Khurai AC said the present era is filled with so many changes. We need to have technical education and to develop it we have to possess technical know-how in every field. Though there is sufficient resource in the state, it could not be converted into our benefits as we do not have technical knowledge for it, he stressed. IMPHAL, May 19: S Sumati Devi, Secretary of the All Manipur Students’ Guardians Organisations (AMSGO) has appealed to the government to make an alternative arrangement for the street vendors since the authority has imposed a ban on street vendors vending their wares on the streets. Addressing a press conference, S Sumati said that there should be an alternative arrangement for street vendors to be allowed to vend their wares on the streets from 5 a.m. to 12.00 noon or they be allowed to sell their wares on the first floors of two buildings of Ima Keithel within one week failing which they will launch an agitation.

IMPHAL, May 19: Security Forces of Red Shield Division recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition buried under ground by a cadre of UPPK in the year 2007 at the foothills of Thangjing ridge.

According to a release of PIB, the cadre identified as SS Capt Moirangthem Raja @ Chingkheinganba @ Meiba resident of Nakhalawai, Moirang, Bishnupur district surrendered to the SF and helped in locating the cache which he buried in 2007 when the camps were shifted to Myanmar.

The cache included four carbine machine guns, four magazines, two .22mm revolvers, 42 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition and two rounds of .22mm ammunition. The surrendered cadre SS Capt Moirangthem Raja @ Chingkheinganba @ Meiba of UPPK joined the group in the year 2001, the release added.

It then stated, thereafter he was actively involved in various anti-social activities in Manipur, Nagaland and Myanmar. Subsequently, he fled to Kathmandu, Nepal in the year 2011 and was operating from there. He came to Manipur on May 17, 2013. He disclosed the location of huge cache of arms at Thangjing ridge, which was recovered after thorough search Op by SF under the aegis of Red Shield Division.

PRESS RELEASE

Delhi University has announced the dates for undergraduate admissions for the academic session 2013-2014. It will commence on the 5th June and will continue till 19th June 2013. Unlike last year, there will be common registration for all categories of students. The college will announce their cut offs for every course and category (Gen/ST/SC/OBC/PH).

The candidates who wish to consider for admission for various undergraduate courses in different colleges of the University, for which there is no entrance exam, are required to register either online at www.du.ac.in or register offline by completing pre-admission form (OMR) available and to be submitted at the admission information centres in Delhi.

There will be no registration/pre-admission form at the college level (online/offline). For sports/ECA and Hostel accommodation forms/applications are to be collected and submitted in the concern college. For admission to St. Stephen College and Jesus & Mary College, aspirants should contact the concerned college.

The University offers the following degrees for each undergraduate programmes:
1. Bachelor with honours/B.tech (4 academic years).
2. Bachelor (3 academic years).
3. Diploma (2 academic years)

The number of centres/colleges providing the admission forms has been increased from 4 to 18 this year. While filling up the pre registration form the student will no longer have to select the colleges, they will just have to select the courses they are interested in and when the colleges declared the first cut-off list, they can walk into any college and claim admission if they meet the college cut-off percentage,

The Naga Students’ Union, Delhi’s admission committee members will be available at the Faculty of Arts (North Campus) and Deans Students’ Welfare office (south Campus) to assist Naga students and others in filling up their forms and other related difficulties. It is advisable for students to submit their forms at the above mention centres for clarity and better co-ordination.
