BJP Chandel lambasts Congress government

CHANDEL, December 8: BJP Chandel Manipur has criticized the present Congress government of keeping the district head quarter Chandel, undeveloped even after coming into power and ruling the state for more than 10 years.

A press release of the BJP Chandel district signed by working president Tongsin Willingson said that the rule of the Congress government is nothing but a “breeder of corruption”.

It further termed the government as a ‘total people failing government’ and added that the people of Chandel in particular have become the most affected victim as far as lack of infrastructure is concerned.

While blaming the government for deplorable conditions of the district roads, the BJP further pointed out that the government of Manipur took the administrative approval of Rs 24,22,00,000 for improvement of road from Pallel to Chandel in the year 2005.

In that same year, Rs 15 Crores and Rs 2,49,92,000 was sanctioned and released by the principal secretary (Works) AE Ahmad entrusting the executive engineer, PWD, Chandel division for development of the road between Pallel to Chandel and the road stretched between Chandel to Chakpikarong respectively, the BJP statement continued.

In response to a letter No. 2070/P-C-S-C/29/E2 dated June 30, 2010 submitted by OC 82nd Road Construction Coy (GREF), BRTF, Imphal, PWD Chandel Division wrote a letter No. EE/CDL/HO/2010-255 dated July 12, 2010, vide no EE/CDL/HO/2010, advising the BRTF to complete the road works at the earliest, added the statement.

Surprised by the inordinate delay of the work of the BRTF even after the sanctioning of the funding, although the black topping of the said roads were expected to be completed by now, the BJP has nothing but to hold the state government responsible for making the people to suffer because of the pot-hole ridden dusty roads, stated the release.

It also stated that the BJP Chandel district understanding the genuine plights of the people, had organized a mass rally to protest the bad condition of the district roads which have remained neglected by the Congress government for the last many years.

The statement also alleged the Works Minister Ratankumar for making false promises when he said that the government will complete repairing the road and to inaugurate the Mini Secretariat by mid-November, last.

The release further stated  that common people have suffered enough due to the bad road condition and worst basic health facility available in the district hospital and had to call an end to the state Congress government’s attitude of taking the common people as ‘vote-bank’ instead of serving the people for a better future.

It also stated that BJP will launched the protest rally in association with the people’s organization for taking quick action for development of the Pallel-Chandel road, the only lifeline of the local people.

CHANDEL, December 8: Reacting sharply against the notification of the District PMEGP chairman declaring the serial numbers of 191 selected beneficiaries under PMEGP 2011 without taking further steps for the beneficiaries to avail the benefits, the Naga Students Union Chandel questioned the concerned minister and department of why amicable solutions to the aged old pending or backlog cases for the selected beneficiaries should not be brought out at an earliest so as to relieve the selected applicants of mental and physical waste of time.

According to the note of the union, the kind of treatment given to the selected beneficiaries is totally against the spirit of PMEGP showing discriminatory attitude of the government towards the tribal people in the district.

Irked by the silence of the department failing to offer any kind of alternative arrangements to the pending cases till date, went further asking whether making the unemployed youths of Chandel to suffer due to this is the policy of the concerned department.

The release informed that the union was compelled to intervene as request made to the concerned principal secretary and the minister concerned by the agitating beneficiaries under the initiatives of MLA of 41 A/C Chandel failed to yield positive result.

Therefore, the union, in this regard, has threatened to launch any future course of agitation if the concerned authorities failed to bring amicable solution on or before December 16.

BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi tweeted right after the last of the state elections result was announced that the victory in nearly 70 percent of the total 589 seats at stake in the four states took place was a wonderful beginning towards success of Mission 272 and for fulfilling the dream of a ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’. The impression of grandiosity in his statement apart, under his leadership the BJP has indeed put up a superlative show at the Assembly elections. It achieved colossal victories at Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan and is in position for staking a claim to the government in Delhi becoming the single largest party despite a valiant show from the debutant Aam Admi Party. The result is a resounding proclamation that under his leadership the BJP is on its way to wrest Delhi at the next Parliamentary elections. But, not so thinks the battered Congress.

This is despite the fact that the Congress faced one of its worst humiliating elections defeats. In Rajasthan, it managed to grab a meager 21 seats, its worst show in the state beating the previous low of 41 it bagged in the post-Emergency elections of 1977. In the states of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, it has been kept out of power for the third successive time by its nemesis, the BJP. Further, the party has been decimated in Delhi (eight seats) and only the presence of the one-year old AAP prevented the BJP from snatching a majority. The humbling results notwithstanding, it is desperate to downplay the role of Modi in bringing its ruins. Top Congress leaders have magnanimously congratulated the BJP’s local leaders in the states including Raman Singh, Harsha Vardhan, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Vasundhara Raje but has stressed that the defeat was not the result of a “Modi Wave”.  Participating in debates on television channels Congress spokespersons had offered scandalous explanations to save their top leaders and the shocking losses did not stop them from heaping criticism on Modi. But, the resistance among the Congress leaders to accept the contribution from its presumptive PM candidate is unlikely to cause heartburns to the BJP now. Instead of wasting time on worthless counterclaims, the saffron party who has observed the powerlessness in the Congress camp will prefer to focus on something significantly rewarding like the Parliamentary election. The results on Super Sunday have validated the confidence of the party on Modi. To the cadres and the leaders alike the massive victory portends a return to ruling the country again. Moreover, the strong show will attract neutral political parties as its allies and improve the prospects of being noticed as a force by regional parties. The magnificent victory of the BJP should be attributed to the popularity of its chief ministerial candidates and the Prime Minister candidate.
